Ugh, MS Word . Fixed it up a bit.
(someone from the staff will still need to take a look...)

There have been several articles that have been published lately (not tips/tricks or blog posts), but who is releasing them?
Theyt just seem a bit light as articles and lacking content to be classed as quality articles, and curious to know if these are going through due process or are they automatically being published when the author submits them?
examples from the last hour;
Updating Charts in Word Document using OpenXML[^]
WCF Architecture[^]
Maybe I am just expecting too much?

I think they are emailed directly to CP, and posted by one of the editors (the revision history says so). I guess these are the acceptable ones, the really bad ones would be returned to sender or referred to a mentor or something like that...

I think you are right. There must be some kind of filtering going on, because it's been a long time since I've seen an article (even in the Needing Approval column) that contains nothing but the boilerplate text.

When viewing tips/tricks and articles I can't see how to go about editing them. My current editor status is gold which should be enough going by the legend. Do I have to do anything special to be allowed to edit them?

I think you need to be Gold Author to be able to edit tip/trick or articles.

I couldn't any information about that.
Interesting ...

Users can also set what level is required on articles for others to edit.

Thanks for the information!

It would be better to split Articles and Tips into separate Tabs.
Do the high change frequency of Tips, Articles updates are scarcely noticeable.
[Edit]This applies to Technical Blogs also.[/Edit]

Thanks Indivara. I missed this one.
But the new CP information structure is a big regression for article authors, and should not be accepted.

The video that works is a YouTube one that is embedded with iframes. Currently that is the only type of video that will work on Code Project, but that will change.
Thanks,

Sean,
Can you clarify exactly how to add a youtube video into an article; I previously tried and failed miserably.
What about Vimeo vids?
Cheers,

Actually I'm now remembering you have to have an editor status to embed a YouTube video. Maybe this works because it's a blog? We'll look into that ...
Once we have video working we'll be adding detailed instruction on how to do it in the FAQ. Should be soon
Thanks,
Sean Ewington

I tried what the author had done, it works for me in an article too, with YouTube videos (though that doesn't prove anything). Haven't tried anything else yet
I'll post the syntax here if that's OK.
(How he figured it out is beyond me, the insert movie button in the article editor never does anything)

What are the colors in Q/A panel and what is meaning of each color ?

Assuming you haven't changed any settings:
Blue: question not up or down voted, you haven't viewed it.
Magenta: question not up or down voted, you have viewed it.
Grey: Question down voted (someone thinks it is a bad question), you may or may not have viewed it.
Red: Question up voted (someone thinks it is a good question), you may or may not have viewed it.
Real men don't use instructions. They are only the manufacturers opinion on how to put the thing together.

My opinion, that would be a little harsh.
He looks like discovering soemthing about FTP and now posting it to threads all over related to it. We have advised him to post it as a Tip/Trick which would help others in future.
Surely, if he continue to do the stuff then someone powerful needs to talk to him.
