What drive are you installing from? a CD?
Also, did you run the install as administrator?
Common sense is admitting there is cause and effect and that you can exert some control over what you understand.

From C:\ a downloaded File at Microsoft.

My account is the local admin account. Except create account, I basically have right to everything ( I think ).

Was it an installer file (EXE, MSI) or a virtual disk (ISO)? Speaking of, do you have drive emulator software that may have been enabled at some point (e.g., Alcohol 120% emulates DVD-ROM drives)?

right click installer, run as adminitrator. sql needs to install stuff that has to run as the local admin, which sounds like you have permissions to do so.

Yes, But the part that worries me, is will the installation create an Account of it self. Which if it does, then that's probably the reason why I cannot install the whole thing.
nevertheless i will try out to run as later as i'm working on other stuffs now. Will report result later .

OK.. I found the reason. It seems I don't have the debug right for the programs in my account. As a result I won't be able to install MSSQL into the computer. This kinda sucks. And I found a KB about it. It seems this happens a lot in big companies.

Perhaps you could use a different database.

It seems there is something wrong with the connection string. Can you verify if it is correct?
|
|
|
|
|
It is giving error
could not connect to the portal database. Please us the following string to connect
jdbc:oracle:thin:msdp/msdp@192.168.56.1:1521:orcl
do not use where to use this and of no help

Is that a correct IP? Try connecting using serverName@DomainName instead. Was there any change made to the database server recently?
|
|
|

No change was made , and can u tell me where to use the format you mentioned.

Are you writing code or running an application provided by someone else?
If you yourself are writing code then either you wrote some java code that created a JDBC connection or you configured a JEE server/container to do the same.
Thus you know where the connection string is or you need to find out.
If instead you are running an application (one you did not create) then you need to contact the vendor of the application and/or read the documentation of the application to determine how to correctly use it.
The error message indicates that the connection string, which is something you should be familar with in the first case is not set to value that allows it to establish a connection OR there is a network problem between the client box and the database box.

Maybe you should first check if the listener for the oracle database has started yet.
Then the connection string.

2. update the Reportviewer Redistributeable package.
3. KB956391 update is not found.
Please guide me.
Thanks in advance.

Did you check 2nd link? I mean entire thread(because it's long one & contains many solutions). Surely It will solve your issue. BTW It helped me once upon a time.

As per the 2nd thread, i had updated the RSclientprint.cab file and also changed the Browser security level. but still the same result.

hi thatraja,
thank you for giving me suggestions. But unfortunately none of it worked. Regarding to uninstall the update KB956391, so nd so...., its not a practical solution, as there are more than 30 users, even we tried that.
when i tried to install the Sql service packs 3 / 4 ...etc.. its showing message that, some other updates need to be installed.
i'm using Mssql 2008 , Mssql report service 2005 , Asp.net 2005.
please guide me,
Thanks in advance.

I have also tried the various work arounds, non of which have worked after a reboot. I've instructed my users to export the data to PDF and print from there (and disabled the print control). Major Pain...
