Actually... my site is hosted by a 3rd party. And they say that CDONTS is supported (a part of the doc that was sent to me along with the registration).
So I tried for it.
Thanks!

Hi!
I tried to validate my web page at http://validator.w3.org[^] and got 497 (yes, four hundred ninety seven) errors! The page rendered fine in IE 5 and 6, but was obviously not valid XHTML. Well anyway, I nailed down all of them, but one.
Here is the code snippet:
<span class="someclass">
Some text.
<br />
<ul style="margin:0px 0px 0px 25px;">
<li>Item one</li>
<li>Item two</li>
</ul>
<br />
Some more text.
</span>
The error message I got from the validator was:
Line 504, column 46: document type does not allow
element "ul" here; missing one of "object", "applet",
"map", "iframe", "button", "ins", "del" start-tag
<ul style="margin:0px 0px 0px 25px;">
^
Hmmm...
So what should I do now to make it valid XHTML and still get what I want? I have tried enclosing the ul within span, p, div, even blockquote. div and p etc result in the error message that p or div cannot be present here. It's 1:45 am here and after working on this for straight I don't know how many hours fixing 496 errors, I can't think properly now. I am not an expert in this stuff. Please help.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Rohit Sinha

Hi!
to allow muliptle selections in a select-box isn't very hard:
<select name="choice" multiple>
<option value="1">first choice</option>
<option value="2">second choice</option>
<option value="3">third choice</option>
</select>
but I can't seem to address the return-array. I'm using php-scripts. So normally a select-box (if you allow only one selection like in most cases) you simple address it like $choice
but this logic doesn't apply to multiple selections
$choice[0] - $choice([array-length] arnen't correct. (nor anything like it)
So, it can't be very hard since it's rather easy to implement, so uhm anyone?

Hi,
I want to cache a 2D-Object (basically, a list of number-string-string) in the Application object. Took me long time to accept that I can#t use an Array. Any other chance?

I'm not sure if this is what you are trying to do ... but I think it might help.
In JScript you cannot create a two-dimensional array simply by doing something like:
var myArr = new Array(10)(10);
Or something like that could possibly make sense ... anyways, you can get around this by doing the following:
var arrRows = new Array(10);
for (var i = 0; i < 10; i++) {
arrRows[i] = new Array(10);
}
Crazy at it may seem this gives you a 10x10 two-dimensional array (or in other words: an array of arrays) and the insane part is you can then access the elements in the array like this:
arrRows[0][0] = "something";
Try it.
Disclaimer: this worked in client side JavaScript ... I am hoping the same would hold true for your ASP.

No problem creating the array, the problem is I can#t store an JavaScript Array in the Applicaiton object...

That stinks ... just out of curiosity, what kind of error does it give you?

Can't store an Apartment-threaded object in application object (not the exact wording, but the actual reason). Talk about a design stupidity here... Obviously, "someone" picked a threading model for Array that's incompatible with the Application object. :yuck:

im trying to use the [input type="file"] tag on a form and give it a value="blahblah" attribute but the text area of the 'control' comes up blank even though the html docs seem to indicate the value attribute will be respected
anybody know how to get an initial text string showing up?
thanks

I don't think you can.
It would be a security risk then. All you'd need to do is show an initial value and then automatically post the form and voila, you've got data from the user's machine.

Simon

On submit of a form, I need to send 2 different emails... one to the person who submitted the form, and one to the webmaster's email address... the emails will not be the same, they will be different messages...the form uses the POST method currently and sends a single email to the webmaster on submit...
How can I get another email sent after "submit"...???
thanks

is the contents of the second email to the webmaster known?
if so its just a case of scripting 2 mail sends in the asp

How to save binary data of a file (in specific format) uploaded by ASP?
