Try copying all the binaries + matching .pdbs over to the other machine. You can install WinDbg which is a very small debugger from Microsoft (just a few MBs) vs. Visual Studio and debug through there.

I need a binding in SolidColorBrush color value inside my theme. So basically, instead of
<SolidColorBrush x:Key="TextBrush" Color=" #FF000000" />
I want something like -
<SolidColorBrush x:Key="TextBrush" Color="{Binding ColorVal}" />
Property could be defined something like this:
namespace ns
{
public class BindingClass
{
public Color ColorVal
{
get
{
return Color.FromRgb(255, 0, 0);
}
}
}
}
Hopefully it's possible. What should I write instead of 'Binding expression' in XAML theme?
Update:
I've got one solution-
On top,
xmlns:local="clr-namespace:ns"
Then a Resource key,
<local:BindingClass x:Key="BindingClassKey"/>
Finally binding,
<SolidColorBrush x:Key="TextBrush" Color="{Binding Source={StaticResource BindingClassKey}, Path=ColorVal}" />
Any better solution?

Hi,
At present I am using an xml file to retrieve data for menu (Navigation of pages).
The xml looks like the following.
Question:
How can I make the menu to show sub menus i.e. menu within a menu?
Thanks
="1.0"="utf-8"
<Navigations>
...
<Navigation>
<item>Converter</item>
<tag>/UserControls/Converter.xaml</tag>
</Navigation>
<Navigation>
<item>Page1 view</item>
<tag>/Views/Page1.xaml</tag>
</Navigation>
<Navigation>
<item>Test Page</item>
<tag>/Views/Test.xaml</tag>
</Navigation>
...
</Navigations>
|
|
|
|
|
Just have menu levels in your xml file.
<Navigation>
<item>Converter</item>
<tag>/UserControls/Converter.xaml</tag>
<FirstLevel>
<item> sub level</item>
<tag>sub level</tag>
</FirstLevel>
</Navigation>
<Navigation>
<item>Page1 view</item>
<tag>/Views/Page1.xaml</tag>
</Navigation>
<Navigation>
<item>Test Page</item>
<tag>/Views/Test.xaml</tag>
</Navigation>

Yes, but how do I make it appear on the UI?
At present, I just read the item and tag of the xml file.
Does this mean that if I also read the FirstLevel element, then it will automatically show up in the UI and a sub level menu?
Thanks

It will not automatically show up.
Silverlight Menu[^] might give you an idea on what you would need to do to show a submenu.

I have a entitycollection and assigned a readonly property for each property of the entity. So that I can define whether they can be modified in Datagrid.
For example,for the same property NAME, it is allowed be be edited for some entities but others not.
But seems there is not a DataGridCell.IsReadOnly in silverlight as in WPF.
Anyone of you have met similar case ? or know that the silverlight 5 will get this supported?

Hi,
I am using a silverlight application which intern uses a wcf service which uses the controllers. We are following MVVM and Prism pattern.
While updating or retrieving the data, I am getting the following error. I have switched my VM machine from one domain to another domain and user name.
"The HTTP request is unauthorized with client authentication scheme 'Anonymous'. The authentication header received from the server was 'Negotiate,NTLM'"
Can anybody know why I get this error and how I can resolve it. Any kind of help or link or suggestion would help me greatly.
Thanks,
Abdul

Hi Raj,
I got it solved, thanks for the help. I needed to make some settings in the IIS. It was due to user authentication issues.

Hello!
This is my first software project using Adobe Illustrator files as interface elements. I use Microsoft Blend 4 to import those files and build my interface. The problem is simple, when I import (File -> Import Adobe Illustrator file...) and take a look at my elements, they are slightly different from the original. Mostly the colors and gradients. Can someone help me please?

Hi All,
I have a silver light application where I am trying to access a csv file by using the following way
List<string> listoflines = (List<string>)File.ReadLines(@"C:\Users\amohammad\Desktop\Bugs\30958\tasksandtaskstatuses2.csv");
But its giving my Access Denied message. Is there any way to read a file in silverlight. But I dont want to use the use FileStream or StreamReader. Because I want to read all the lines at a time and assign in the above way.
Is there any way to access the read the files in silverlight irrespective of its access rights. Because here we are just reading the file. I know that if we keep it in my documents then I can read the files. But Can I read the files irrespective of its location and access rights.
Thanks & Regards,

If you think about what you are asking for a minute, you can see that the ability to read any file at any location using a method like this, regardless of access rights, would represent a huge security vulnerability.

As Pete was not very clearly hinting, you aren't allowed to access the local file system in silverlight because thats a security breach. Imagine if any web site could install a silverlight app on your machine and access your c:\documents\bank records.doc and make a copy. Not good!
If you are using SL4, there is a work-around as you can access the local file systems *IF* your app is running with elevated permissions and is trusted. Even then, you only have access to a few folders. Again, a security consideration.
In SL3 and below, you can not access the local file system at all.

You can only get at the file from a user interaction, via the fileopen dialog.

using silverlight,actually it does not allow the client side application to fetch the data from outside the project.The data can be fetched in only two ways ,first if it is stored locally using isolated storage or its a resource file.
Enjoy

Curently i have downloaded expression blend trial to see what i do. I have made simple triangle.
<Path Data="M395.25,283.625 L403.75,295 C403.75,295 388.37515,294.875 388.37515,294.875 C388.37515,294.875 395.25,283.625 395.25,283.625 z" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Height="12.375" Margin="189.891,0,0,188.625" Stretch="Fill" UseLayoutRounding="False" VerticalAlignment="Bottom" Width="16.375" Fill="#FF00B6BA"/>
So my question is, is there a tool that can convert StreamPathGeomtry (Path.Data) into a normal XAML graphic no matter how complex is? I want to see how complex graphics works.
I appreciate any help.
PS: Do not convert this for me.

You mean convert the path into a bunch of line segments? Not sure why you want to do that. Thats the whole point of paths. By the way, that IS a "normal XAML graphic"... Paths have nothing to do with Expression Blend, they are standard WPF objects.

That is what i meant. I know it doesn't have anything with blend.

I didn't knew how to express it

I may not be able to use Bleend in the future but i want to see how complex graphic comes together.

Ok, well, I don't think anybody really works directly with the path syntax itself because it can get pretty complicated. REALLY complex (by complex, I don't mean a triangle, I mean something along the lines of the Silverlight 5 muscle-man demo) graphics aren't a single primitive. They are thousands of primitives. I forgot the name of the user on here, but there is a guy on here that has put up 4 or 5 demos of complex WPF graphics. Anyways, if you really want to learn the syntax itself (waste of time IMO since the visual tools do it for you ), check here:
