I wrote a small console application in vc++.I just print hello world.But the exe size in release mode comes around 36 KB.How to reduce the memory size.I want to reduce to 10 KB.What are the things i can remove to reduce the exe size.

How about the following 640 bytes compiled and linked Hello World? Sure, you can get it up to 10KB if you want, but...

<br />

<br />
#pragma optimize("gsa-y", on)<br />
#pragma comment(lib, "kernel32")<br />
#pragma comment(linker, "/merge:.rdata=.text")<br />
#pragma comment(linker, "/entry:mymain")<br />
#pragma comment(linker, "/subsystem:console")<br />
#pragma comment(linker, "/align:16")<br />
#pragma comment(linker, "/filealign:16")<br />
<br />
#define WIN32_LEAN_AND_MEAN<br />
#include <windows.h><br />
<br />
#pragma data_seg(".text")<br />
<br />
void mymain()<br />
{<br />
DWORD dwDum;<br />
WriteFile(GetStdHandle(STD_OUTPUT_HANDLE), "Hello world!\n", 13, &dwDum, 0);<br />
}<br />

Hi..
One important doubt..
(ie) If we download 2 or more DLL's from the website,if it is new,it should be installed at next reboot time.
If any old version is there it should upgrade.
After that it wont continue for each and every reboot.
how to do that in VC++?.Which concept or tool to be used?.
Help me..Very urgent...

Try MoveFileEx with dwFlags MOVEFILE_DELAY_UNTIL_REBOOT after you have checked if the DLL is newer, by it's date or perferably by it's version number

I'm having trouble activating panes in a splitter window, i have 2 panes split vertically. I want to have the second pane always in focus, so clicking in the top just activates the bottom. I've tried using SetActivePane(1,0) all over the place to no avail (in OnActivateView of the container view and in OnActivateView of the top view) I can't for the life of me figure how to do this, thanks.

hi,
how do you change the tabbing order of the different controls in a dialog? i had my dialog created, but i had to make some changes and now the tabbing order is all wrong.. is there a way to reset the tabbing order beside delete every single control and recreate the dialog?
thx in advance..
|
|
|
|
|
Make sure you have the dialog window pulled up as the formost window > Select 'Layout' (from the top toolbar) > Tab Order > Double click the controls in the tab order you want them.
|
|
|
|
|
I've only ever used single-click.

Help!
I am using VC++ 6 and when I try to build any project that uses the windows header two errors comes up during linking. I made a simple project exampel to show you my delemma.
Project Code:
#include <windows.h><br />
<br />
int WINAPI WinMain(HINSTANCE hThisInstance, HINSTANCE hPrevInstance, LPSTR lpszArgument, int nFunsterStil) {<br />
return 0;<br />
}
Build Status:
--------------------Configuration: project - Win32 Debug--------------------<br />
Compiling...<br />
project.cpp<br />
Linking...<br />
LIBCD.lib(crt0.obj) : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol _main<br />
Debug/project.exe : fatal error LNK1120: 1 unresolved externals<br />
Error executing link.exe.<br />
<br />
project.exe - 2 error(s), 0 warning(s)
What am I missing? Is it somthing I need to do in the project settings or what? Because EVERY time I try to build a project that includes the windows header these errors comes up.

Your project is set to build a console-mode app (that is, command line) and therefore requires a main() function as the starting point for the app. To build a GUI-mode app, change the linker switch /subsystem:console to /subsystem:windows
