oh touche, that was a direct hit. I wanted to say that but I held back. I'm not sure how far I can push it here on the Code Project, and what the limits are.
I use to use the asp.net forum, and if you say just something slightly offending, they delete your post. It's like walking on egg shells over there. Pure PC and totally out of control.
There sure seems to be a flood recently of scattered minds looking for people to do research for them here on the Code Project. I guess the secrets out, and perhaps a line needs to be drawn in the sand between code slavery and actual real help.
FYI:
The majority of post on this discussion can be Googled, and an answer can be obtained in as little as 30 seconds.
Good for you, oh that string to byte question, I thought I would just let the poster simmer for awhile on that one. I can't believe you gave him the answer.

That is pretty much 24/7. It is no coincidence that these types of questions start popping when a certain part of the world is in their daylight hours.

Yep... and those are the ones that get the bare minimal amount of help. IF they post something that stick to the guidelines showing that they have actually tried something, they get the real help. There is one guy in the QA section right now that has no idea what he is doing. He posts the same question over and over and pretty much his only response to answers is "it don't work". But it's very clear that he doesn't know anything about programming and refuses to try understand any of the answers. If he can't copy/paste code into his homework then he is off to post another repost.

Sometimes the functions that they need to use are not immediately obvious. So I gave him the benefit of a doubt.
Why is common sense not common?
Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level where they are an expert.

Those are some good guidelines for me to follow. I didn't think of it like that.
I like the daylight reference.

which is the best performance oriented approach.
Please give me your advice or any link would be greatly helpfull.

GetBytes(yourString);

I am using resx for localisation the language. My reqt is when i change the data in grid view then it also update the resx file as i am populating the grid from resx file only, not by database.

Not clear!
RESX files are static files where you define all the strings that needs to be localized. Once done, you refer those localized string from RESX file everywhere in your application.
There is no connection of updating datagrid internally updating RESX file.

Looks like you have mismatched Crystal versions or wrong reference in case of multiple version.
Have a look at this similar thread discussion that is marked resolved: Parser Error Message: The base...[^]
Also, Parser Error – Not compatible...[^]

Is this possible to create your own design of an event calendar using a Visual Basic.net for web development?

Of course you can. .NET is largely language agnostic, which is just a fancy way of saying if you can do it in one .NET language, you can do it in another.

I have a web application to display sales data. My input, transaction_header table, is like this:
... | van_id | sale_date | ... | ... | Van A | 2012-03-01 17:28:38.000 | ... | ... | Van A | 2012-03-01 17:33:54.000 | ... | ... | Van B | 2012-03-01 12:33:48.000 | ... | ... | Van B | 2012-03-01 12:38:14.000 | ... |
I need to export the transaction data to excel and the excel would show as:
Gross Sales | DATE | Van A | Van B | Van C | ... | 1-Mar | $3,359 | | | ... | | $49,934 | $20,657 | $41,481 | ... | 2-Mar | $3,633 | | $4,263 | ... | | $73,394 | $38,134 | $41,083 | ... | 3-Mar | | | $2,118 | ... | | $40,831 | $39,838 | $32,344 | ... | 4-Mar | SUNDAY | 5-Mar | $4,387 | | $3,842 | ... | | $84,814 | $39,242 | $41,116 | ... | ... |
My problem is the number of van may change over time. For the transaction_header table, this does not post a problem as there is just one more row. Yet for the output, it is a problem. Thw columns of my table may increase over time. Now how do I approach this problem?
Appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

There are a ton of examples online of how to export data to Excel. Start here.[^]

Yes, there are tons of example out there. My question, I think, is more specific. The number of columns may increase (or even decrease, although I doubt it will) over time. Now how can I handle this?

That is just fine. Most examples I have seen use a DataGrid and set AutoGenerateColumns = true. This means that it does not matter how many columns you have.
The code is have used before is here.[^] All you have to do is set the datasource of the datagrid.
