Was it worth such a post? If you read this thread, you'll see that the CP team has already said they have a fix. Wouldn't you rather wait for them to make sure it doesn't have any adverse effects?

Since when have we started to expect people to be nice and civil on CodeProject? I read a few responses in the Lounge this morning and remain convinced that CP attracts some of the biggest jerks out there. Some of them are good programmers, and often do contribute to the site/community, but they are still assholes.

So what can you do to help, Nish?

Not sure if that's sarcasm or not, Chris. But I try to set an example by avoiding verbal confrontations with people, never insulting anyone for their grammar/lack of knowledge/newbie-ness, and by not using the 1-vote as a fight-back response. Of course I am no way near the nicest folks here (like you, Pete, and Ravi Bhavnani to name a few that come to mind).
I don't want to mark someone's post as "abuse" (reporting the post) merely because they are rude or insulting, since it'll just result in angry threads in the Suggestions forum where people complain to you that they lost rep points, and then you mostly seem to undo the vote to get them off your back.

You see, that's what I love about British English, arseholes sounds so much classier than a**holes. That extra letter just drags that word out nicely.

Sorry, but my Trivandrum-upbringing mixed with my present-day Ohio-ness compels me into using American spelling

I expected better of someone who reads Wodehouse. Jeeves would cough politely at this stage, and Fotheringay-Phipps would have you ejected from the Drones.

And started a bit of s**t-storm.

It looked dangerously like I was going to have 10 mins free today, so this little emergency has, thankfully, filled that dangerous gap. Give me nothing to do and I know I'd quickly degrade into sending around viral videos of kittens on trampolines and stuff.
All bad.

We did this because it's important for new members to be aware that there are licensing terms associated with the downloads. We are making the assumption that more experienced members are aware enough to check articles' license terms before downloading, so they don't see this intermediate page.
The download page should have a direct link to the download if, for some reason it doesn't automatically start downloading. Do you have any add-ins installed such as ad blockers, or do you have auto-refresh disabled on your browser?

Thank you Chris for fast responding.
I appreciate your job and the many others who kept our lovely site in it's best.
Now I see why that changes ,But even the 'Click her if download does not apprear' doesn't do the job at most of my cases.
any Idea how to make that work for me ?
BTW -I don't have any add-ins installed such ad blockers ,and my browser has been set to auto refresh as I think.
There is always hope ..!

I am not a fan of the new frame above the external links, but I am willing to give you the benefit of the doubt that it is good for something [ad revenue?]
I thought I'd bring over an idea from the lounge which might make it more palatable, add [next] and [previous] buttons so that we can scroll through the news articles; this would be elephanting good on my mobile.

This is one of the things the framing allows us to do.
Maybe a compromise in that we ditch a lot more chrome and leave just a nav frame up top. Then we could do the next/prev.

I full-well acknowledge I am a klutz, but we could really do with an undo klutziness button on this one IMO, given the implications.

Please why you force me to click one more time to read news article?
If I would not want to read opened article I would not click at previous link at all.
If I want summary I would read text over link.
It's unnecessary at all, and eats my download limit on my phone.
