On my page, I have several HREF links to jpg files. However, when I click on them, only some get loaded. Others don't appear (although there's a small empty picture frame at the top left corner of the page). I notice that all the jpgs that do load are small in size (50 Kb - 100 kb). The rest are rather big files (500 - 900 kb).
How can I get the browser to display these larger image files?
A related problem is that, instead of displaying these images on the browswer when clicked, how can I force a file download dialog box so that the user can immediately download the jpg file? (Right now, clicking the image link will just display the pic on the screen (for small pics only).

If you have ASP at your disposal you can force a file download with a small amount of server-side code:
Code Snippets:
http://www.codeproject.com/script/comments/forums.asp?msg=424837&forumid=1640#xx424837xx[^]
I actually asked the same question a few days back and answered it myself
As to why some images would display and others won't ... that's a new one to me. Per chance, could you share a link to this page?

I really cant give out the site (and you probably cant access it anyway) because it part of my company's intranet. All I have on the page are some logo pictures. When the use clicks on a logo, I want a file download or "save as" dialog box to pop up and prompt the user to save it. I dont want the browser to display the image file (jpg).
However, my browser doesnt even display these images if the file is too big. I dont know to fix that. Is there a configuration file that I need to set in IIS?

Hi, everyone!
Here are some codes discussing html span tag used
with img tag. Who can show me the function of the span
tag here?
Codes:
--------
<img id='obj1' style='cursor:hand' src='1.gif'>
<img id='obj1' style='cursor:hand' src='11.gif'>
<a class = item href = "test1.jsp"> abc </a></br>
<span id = 'span1'></span>
<img id='obj2' style='cursor:hand' src='2.gif'>
<img id='obj2' style='cursor:hand' src='22.gif'>
<a class = item href = "test2.jsp"> cba </a></br>
<span id = 'span2'></span>
--------
Thanks in advance,
George

It has no meaning in the code as it is here. But I guess there is a script which will alter the contents of those spans later

From the W3C on HTML Structure:
The DIV and SPAN elements, in conjunction with the id and class attributes, offer a generic mechanism for adding structure to documents. These elements define content to be inline (SPAN) or block-level (DIV) but impose no other presentational idioms on the content.The DIV and SPAN elements, in conjunction with the id and class attributes, offer a generic mechanism for adding structure to documents. For an example, I use SPAN's in my MineSweeper[^] game.

Hi there - I have this problem: including files. I have index.html and need to include the file header.html, and am trying to use
<br />
<!--#include virtual="header.html"--><br />
but this for some reason doesn't work. MSDN also says this should work, but I haven't been able to get it to work. I've also tried using the tags EMBED, LINK, etc, but nothing wants to work
Help would be appreciated
Paul

Okay sorry guys, my problem seems to have been fixed by renaming the file to *.asp
Cheers

you have to give it a .asp or .shtml extension.

Hi
how do you update a frameset when a button has been clicked in another frame?
thanks
|
|
|
|

You can reference a frameset with JavaScript:
For example:
top.FrameSetName
Here is a reference[^] to a similar question.

Hi!
I have a Web service runing in IIS (developed using the VS.net wizard)
Now C# clients use the web service. How Can I mentain session information. The EnableSession Tag works when the web service is invoked through IE but fails when called from a C# client. May be its because IE uses the HTTP POST and GET methods (and hence session is mentained) and the C# client uses SOAP.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks!

Don't you have to do something to the global.asx file? Wait, nevermind forget I even said anything... I spaced out half way though your post anyways...

I developed a ASP component which can create process,I want it run a program which will product some files,but the problem is the ASP component created process and didn't product files.
the code is follow:
STDMETHODIMP CWebExam::CompileFile()
{
AFX_MANAGE_STATE(AfxGetStaticModuleState())
// TODO:
STARTUPINFO si;
PROCESS_INFORMATION pi;
ZeroMemory( &si, sizeof(si) );
si.cb = sizeof(si);
ZeroMemory( &pi, sizeof(pi) );
// Start the child process.
if( !CreateProcess( NULL, // No module name (use command line).
"e:\\web2\\exam\\cl.exe /Fee:\\web2\\exam\\ /Foe:\\web2\\exam\\ e:\\web2\\exam\\test2.cpp", // Command line.
NULL, // Process handle not inheritable.
NULL, // Thread handle not inheritable.
FALSE, // Set handle inheritance to FALSE.
0, // No creation flags.
NULL, // Use parent's environment block.
"e:\\web2\\exam\\", // Use self starting directory.
&si, // Pointer to STARTUPINFO structure.
&pi ) // Pointer to PROCESS_INFORMATION structure.
)
{
error=1;
//MessageBox(NULL,"create process wrong",NULL,MB_OK);
}
else
{
error=0;
}
// Wait until child process exits.
WaitForSingleObject( pi.hProcess, INFINITE );
// Close process and thread handles.
CloseHandle( pi.hProcess );
CloseHandle( pi.hThread );
return S_OK;
}

Though the code is inside a COM component, it still runs with Internet Guest Account (IUSR_MachineName) permissions. So if the folder where you are trying to create files doesn't have write permission for that account, your component will not be able to create files. I guess same goes to a processes started by your componeny - they just started with same account

sorry!I think I didn't write the problem clearly!
In this component ,I have a property named "Error",it will return a value which points out the process is created or not.
To test this component ,I set the IIS web account as administrator,also I create a asp page,created the component,run the method,after this,I checked the "Error"'s value ,to my superise,I found it created a process successed. but it didn't product any outfiles.
I doubt that it maybe has something to do with the environment of the process running.
Thank your reply!

hmm... well, having administator(o such) rights on your web directory, you can run processes without an external component But nevermind..
Have you tried to execute the same command line from windows itself? Will it produce any files?
