I am currently downloading a file from the web and checking info from it.
CStdioFile *remotefile;
CInternetSession mysession;
remotefile = mysession.OpenURL
(csUrl,1,INTERNET_FLAG_TRANSFER_BINARY|INTERNET_FLAG_RELOAD);
if(!remotefile)
return 0;
My question is can i write to the file that i just opened and save it back on the web server.
If this doesn't work is there another method if i want to write to a file over the web?

I have used CFtpConnection::PutFile(..) fn for that. But might also look a t CInternetFile::Write(..)

I'm doing some bencmarks on low-level high-priority threads, and I'd like to see how they do when some other process is hogging a large percenbtage of CPU resources - 80% or 90%.
Does anyone know of a utility that will suck CPU time through a straw?
Thx

search for cpustres,exe, it's installed with Visual Studio.
It does exactly what you want.

My question is:
Can I get info automatically on (all) functions that are in my project?
Here is what I want to do. I have a big workspace with several projects. I want to find all uses of a certain variable in each and every project. For example, I want to find every case that I use SYSTEMTIME or CTime in all my projects.
Can Studio report information in tabular format such as:
Function Name <--> Return Type
Function Name <--> File
Function Name <--> Class
Function Name <--> Project
Function Name <--> Argument List <--> Example of use
Return Type <--> Argument List
File <--> Project
Class <--> Project
You probably see what direction I'm going with this. I want to create a database that gives me info on my uses of a variable in an entire workspace.
Is this automated somewhere? I also have SourceSafe at my disposal. Sorry if this has been answered somewhere before, but I am not sure how to word my question or search.
Thank you
John J

See SHGetFileInfo() . Use the SHGFI_ICON value for uFlags .

Hello all,
I tried remote debuging in VC6.0 with an NT machine as host (source code) and an 2000 machine as remote. Everything worked well except breakpoints. I couldn't set breakpoints.
What I was trying to debug is a DLL running form an executable for which I don't have source code or PDBs.
Any ideas on how to solve this?
Thanks in advance.

I am trying to use text in a PaintShop Pro or PhotoShop type application. Does any body have any ideas on how to do this. I am specifically interested in ideas about how you let the user manipulate the text object. For example the user can stretch the text object in either direction, or rotate the text or...
I have started working on 2 solutions. The first is when I create a text object given a font name, font size, color and attributes (bold, italic...) I put it into a rich text control and grab the bitmap that is generated by the rich text control. Then stretching or rotating the text is basically stretchBlting or rotating a bitmap. This works well but looses quality (especially when printing).
The sceond solution is when I create a text object given a font name, font size, color and attributes (bold, italic...) I create a logical font, using the LOGFONT structure. This gives rotation by creating the font rotated. It also gives great quality when printing. But this causes problems with stretching. I have not gotten this approach to stretch into long or heigh text.
OK, does anybody have any recomemdations about these approaches? Or another approach?
Thanks for any advice!

Hi,
The .dsp and .dsw files are rather easy to understand
but doesn't anyone know where I can find an official
description of the format of VS project and workspaces ?
Thanks!

ouch ... I asked about this recently ... Chris Richardson and Neville Franks provided a lot of help (particularly since I was looking at using the VS Interface to do this - they persuaded me not to .. this applies more to VC6 by the way, the interface is better in VC7)
have a look at http://www.codeproject.com/useritems/IncludeFinder.asp[^]
From Chris >> "The classes you may be interested in will be in DSObjects.h, DSObjects.cpp, VC6Objects.h, and VC6Objects.cpp"
I do have some info I found on using the automation interface - 1 or 2 artciles from the web, but havnt analysed them thoroughly yet - reply back if you want me to dig them out (may take a day or so) ...
cheers, Garth

Hi, me again
I am trying to write a program that loops an input until the escape key is pressed. But how do you put a single char into the input buffer so when the program requests a input the char will be displayed and removable by backspace key? Below is the basic what I have come so far but the problem is that “cin.putback(c);” does neither display the char “c” nor is it removable for the user, when pressing backspace key. I could add “cout << c;” but that only solves one problem, what do I need to do to make the char editable/removable for user when inputing?
char c;
while (1) {
c = getch();
switch (c) {
case 27: // Escape key is pressed
return 0;
case 13: // Enter key is pressed
//...
break;
default: // Some other key is pressed
cin.putback(c);
// Place char c into the input buffer,
// but it won't be displayed nor editable when input requested.
cin.getline(Text, 256);
// request input from user,
// the char c will be included in Text when user has finished input.
//...
}
}

Hi,
I am using the winldap.h API to query Active Directory for a binary field called objectGUID. I am trying to use the ldap_get_values_len function to do this but am having a few problems. I need to retrieve the data and convert it into base64. I have some example conversion functions but none of them deal with the result from ldap_get_value_len function.
Does anyone have any code that does something similar or can anyone suggest a solution.
thanks

Hi!!
A program allocated memory from heap using new, something like this
int * a = new int[20];
i.e program created ten int objects using heap. Later in the program suppose we only require first ten of these while other are found useless, then how can we delete the objects from int[10] to int[19]
|
|
|
|
|
I dunno if you can delete the last 10 only, but the safest bet is to make a new int[10] and copy the 10 you want into it. Easier, just use std::vector instead.

Hi..
I think it's not possible using new , delete
use malloc , realloc , free stuff to make it (include stdlib.h and malloc.h )or use STL or make a linked list instead of using arrays
|
|
|
|
|
A linked list will have completely different behaviour to a vector/self rolled array wrapper. You need to be careful that this is the sort of behaviour you want ( fast insert, slow lookup )
