Chris,
Can you consider giving a link to 'Clear Notifications' in the 'View Notifications' pop window itself? That would avoid one additional round-trip for users.

There's a button on the notifications page itself.
I prefer to leave the button on the page, not on the drop down, to avoid people accidentally deleting them all. I know I can add a "are you sure" but for now I'll err on the side of caution.

Should we require the navigation to the page at all? Can a small (X) or a pertinent icon on the notifications baloon itself do this?

There are some secret emoticons in CodeProject like what are the other secret emoticons?
|

are two I know of.
One of these days I'm going to think of a really clever signature.

Thanks for the two !!

There seem to be lots of surprises hidden in the site. For example: go to your profile page and hit up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, b, a .

Interesting; did you discover this by trying every combination of keystrokes you could think of?

No, I cheated and looked at the source of the page:
<script type="text/javascript">
function execKonami() {
$(".member-rep-box > .medium-text > b").html("∞");
$(".member-rep-box").addClass("platinum");
$(".member-rep-total > .large-text").text("A squillion");
}
var kkeys = [], konami = "38,38,40,40,37,39,37,39,66,65";
function kcallback(e) {
kkeys.push(e.keyCode);
if (kkeys.toString().indexOf(konami) >= 0) {
kkeys = [];
execKonami();
}
}
$(document).ready(function (){
$(window).bind("keydown", kcallback);
});
</script>

Really that!
If I do it at the profile of another member, than he/she has a squillion points,
but my color in the upper-right-corner is platinum

That was from double bubble, wasn't it?
Regards.

If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about?
Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you
Rating helpfull answers is nice, but saying thanks can be even nicer.

Every message is showing as "new", and the side-bar is showing "indicates new messages since 4:00 1 Jan '00". Is this the new Millennium bug?

Strange - I'm still logged in, and it's remembered my view settings. It seems to have fixed itself now, so it was probably Firefox having a brainfart.

I just recalled we had a high load issue a couple of days ago and it could have been a simple case of the system timing out while retrieving some of your supplemental account info list the last time your logged in.

Unlikely; wouldn't that have logged me out and reset my view settings as well?

Fluid layout: Things shifted right side. Unable to report or vote.
FF16
Fixed layout: Same shift is there making large whitespace on left compared to right.
UPDATE: Now things look fine.
