There was a time when we had to travel to the nearest town with a library to look up whatever we were researching. Now, walking your finger to the F5 key is apparently too much trouble.
Never mind me, I'm the resident grouch.

Yes, but there is nothing can satisfy us so if we can step further then why not...

Hello All,
In this forum we are restricting user to enter there own email while replying to question / post.
But I am seeing there are few users who has there email id as there user name .
It would be good to restrict user not to enter there email id in user name field.
Let me know if this can be possible in next release.
Hope this helps , If yes the accept the answer and vote it otherwise revert back with your queries

Hi,
Came across the below typo while updating my profile.
"Unable to update password. Please ensure you provide the corrent current or temporary password."
Its put in as "corrent" instead of "correct"

Code project can have online TFS support for the projects.
Like the CodePlex CodePoject can also provide support for the projects.
Doing so will give it's users a new features, increasing site's usability, users then can share there project more easily and user's all over the glob can work together to make solution more useful.
|
|
|
|
|
That's one heck of an overhead for Code Project. What about those users who don't use TFS? A lot of people prefer to use things like Mercurial, GIT or SVN.
|
|
|
|
|
Well, those were good references.
And sorry that I did not mention one thing: that is,
We can have multiple source code control systems (SSCS) like you mentioned git etc...
And about the overhead, we can put responsibility of the previous (older) project to be added in SSCS on users, let them choose if they want to put there project in SSCS or not.

This suggestion would add a lot of cost and overhead to Code Project. One real problem would end up being that code would be updated in the source control system, but would not be updated in the article text. This would render the article pretty much useless.
The key thing here is that the focus of Code Project are the articles.

Hmm - that's an interesting if ambitious idea.

For the last 5 or 6 days (fuzzy since I've been away and back and on different computers), I am not able to login on (at least) my Vista computer using Firefox 17.0.1. The symptom is that when I show up on CP, it has me logged out (despite prior 'remember me' setting). When I attempt to login at the clicky symbol in the upper right hand corner, it accepts my login info, the popup disappears, screen blinks and I am back to the 'logged out' state. If I go to the CP login page (https://www.cp.com/script/Membership/LogOn.aspx) and login, it takes my info and gives me the same 'logged out' status on the main page.
I am currently using IE (not my browser of choice or habit) to login and submit this bug report. Attempting to login on firefox while I am logged in with IE gives me the hamsters (ha ha - that part might be working correctly).
[update...]
Any attempt to login with firefox now gives me the hamsters (IE works fine). The hamsters report 'invalid viewstate', server is Web02.
I don't know if this is a different problem or not but I am a devotee of the Daily News messages. I don't always read them the same day, but I always read them. I note that I haven't received any Daily News messages since Dec 21.
[update 2...]
I deleted my FireFox CP cookies and was able to login.
No new daily messages however; still none since Dec 21.

Glad you got the login fixed. Way-back-when, Firefox had lots of issues with cookies and clearing them was the only way to fix these issues. I haven't seen firefox issues for a long time, so it seems they have crept back in.
With regards to the Daily News, we took a hiatus on these during the break so that we could, well, have a break! They will be back for the New Year.

After entering email and password, I get hamsters telling me something bad happened - "Invalid viewstate".
I tried using both the Full Site and the Mobile mode.
I am not sure when it last worked. Maybe a week ago.

Ditto - Nokia Lumia 920/WP8
Don't comment your code - it was hard to write, it should be hard to read!

Mine is also a Lumia 920. Perhaps Chris installed a new anti-Nokia filter

Using my IE8 (WinXP, SP3) I can log in when I hover the mouse over the "Sign in" link in the top right corner and fill out the pop-up login form. But if I click on the "Sign in" link and try to log in from the "Member Log-on" page, I get the hamster error just as on my phone.
Unfortunately I don't know how to get the "hover log in form" to stay open when I use my phone.
After reading the post from H.Brydon above, I tried clearing the cookies on my phone and using relaxed settings (accept all cookies, do not send "Do not track request to websites"), but it still fails.

I finally got an Android Tablet and can not login here @ CP.
I figured 2 different behaviors:
- Answering in Q&A with entering Nick & PW -> nothing happens
- login via link top right corner -> CP Error page is shown.

I just got my Nexus back from a mate who was borrowing it to keep his 2 year old sane. I'll dig in tomorrow or Tue and see what's happening.
(I know this doesn't help one little bit, but it works perfectly fine on my iPad!)

Android 4.0.3
I was now able to login with the tablet. I don't know what has changed, but it works today.
Thanks for the fast action!
