Tridip Bhattacharjee wrote: i hard that session has sliding expiration nature. can anyone tell me how sliding expiration works
Pretty simple really. If the user doesn't re-access the application before the timeout, their session will expire. Theoretically as long as the user keeps accessing the app before the timeout, the "clock restarts" and the session would never expire, as soon as they wait until after the timeout their session will expire. It is also possible for the application to close the session if needed.
Tridip Bhattacharjee wrote: Is it default behaviour or developer has to set anything for club up this sliding expiration with session.
This is the default, you don't have to do anything extra.

suppose if user interact with my site for 20 minute does it mean that session will expire also after 20 minute if user interact?
if session will not expire then what will be the new session expire time?

If the user interacts within 20 mins, the session will not expire immediately. The session will last "forever" as long as they continue to interact less than every 20 minutes.
The session ends when:
1) The user fails to interact within the rolling 20 mins - it expires. (e.g. say the user logs in at 12:00, does something a 12:19, again at 12:38 and doesn't then interacts until 12:59 (21 minutes later).
2) The application closes the session programatically (e.g. logout).
3) Something crashes.

I've just said at lease twice, it won't.
Tridip Bhattacharjee wrote: if session will not expire then when session will expire in this situation. also tell me what will be session time out then?
Sorry, I cannot explain myself any more clearly. It will expire the next time the user fails to interact before the timeout limit, this could be the first 20 mins, the next 20 mins, the 20 mins after or so on.

I cannot know, it depends what you are doing and why. 20 minutes is just Microsoft's best guess. My bank expires the session after 10 to reduce the risk of CSRF attacks, but this would be unacceptably annoying for most other sites.

What have you tried so far? You have to be specific on what is troubling you.
To start with, follow the steps (for client side implementation - my preference):
1. Define a onclick button method A
2. In the method A, get textbox1 & textbox2 text. Now you know what needs to be replaced with what.
3. In the method A, get textbox3 text. You plan to replace textbox1 text to textbox2 text in this.
4. Define another method B, pass 3 parameters to it - fromText, toText, paraText
5. In method B, define a regex to replace in paraText - you got all the things you need
6. Once done, set the new text in the textbox3.
Try out!

And I explained and shared the steps for exactly this.

It does not work like that here. You need to make some effort, try out and post specific issue if you face any. Please try the steps I shared.

Hello
how the convert asp.net ( Written in English ) to different other language.

I am personally not a developer. However, I am leading an application project from the business user design perspective. As a result, I am not sure which forum or forums this would best to post a question to, and guidance on that is certainly appreciated, but I selected this forum because I know the developer we are considering working with is using ASP.NET along with jQuery and ADO.Net.
Anyway, my question is, we were hoping to developing an input screen for financial statement line items (such as monthly revenue, monthly cash balances, etc.) that would appear as rows, with an input box for the current months data, and then alongside those input boxes would be one or more columns (i.e. by "columns" I mean visually on a grid/matrix chart like a column in an Excel spreadsheet) containing the same monthly data for prior months (and or sums of multiple months) drawn from fields previously input (or calculated) and saved in the database.
The developer we are talking with has come up with a tools that allows a next best solution in which the months appear as rows and the line items like revenue are columns. However, he is not aware of any tools allowing the webpage layout the original way I described which is simply inverted. I believe this developer is highly knowledgeable and experienced, but even people like that do not always know of everything out there, and given that plus my curiosity to learn knew things, enjoyment of research, the challenge, and ultimately the preference for having it set up the way we like, I figured that I would take a shot in the dark and ask if anyone either knows of a potentially suitable tool or solution, or if anyone might be able to point me in the right direction of someone else who might know where I can look.
Thanks in advance for any help and guidance and I appreciate your time in looking over my novice question.
Best regards

Well, it doesn't have to be something per-manufactured to do the job.
web pages are just made up of various HTML elements, that combined together, will get the job done, so it's a matter of writing something custom for you.
So take a grid view or treeview asp.net object, it's just a collection of HTML elements tied together, with some JavaScript to bond the functionality together for smooth operation.
ASP.Net is very robust, and you can do almost anything with it in ease. So your not making a mistake with the technology.
If it was me, I would of told you that it's a custom job, and it will take so many hours to develop, test and complete, and I would lose the contract because my price was too high.
For what's its worth, everybody thinks that you can just download something off the internet, paste and modify, and your done, but not the case.
Sounds like a Gridview job, and there are folks out there that just live in that control object. I don't, never used it, but there are thousands of people that specialize in it.
A gidview with textboxes for data input, click summit to generate the new data.
That's just my 2 cents of it.

I appreciate the guidance and feedback. I figured it must be possible as you suggest, and I don't view that he was saying it was impossible, but he indicated he really couldn't estimate what it would take. However, he apparently found some previously created tool or template he could use make the grid appear in the opposite direction. We don't have an unlimited budget, so probably a second best option much cheaper makes more sense. It just a little surprising to me more people wouldn't have developed something like that before.
Thanks again

I don't make it a practice to reuse code, unless I know that certain pieces of code will do the trick, because it's the same in functionality.
That's up to the creator, my years of experience says that if it's not the same thing, start from scratch and build it up.
As far as no one writing that, I sure it's been written already, someone doing government work or a corporate programmer writing for in house stuff.
Most people don't share code, except for scripts, which are a dime a dozen.
Based on your feedback, in which he has something that he can tweak, and can't give you a firm price, he must not be the author of the code, and does not fully understand how it works. So he may be easter egg hunting on how to customize it for you.
You really need to look for experience, most times it's cheaper, and you'll get a fine product the first time round.

Hello All,
With great diffculty was able to set up the Website Administration Tool on the web server, with a copy from my laptop running Visual Studio.
I ran the aspnet_regsql.exe, and set up the database to connect. All the tables related to this app was created in this database.
Using IIS 7, was able to change the connection string, to reflect to this database.
Now, when I click on "Security" tab, it comes back with "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." It also states that the role Manager is maybe not enabled. Where do I enable this roleManager?
Thanks!!

So that error came from the Website Administration tool?
You might have to reinstall the program, or perhaps your missing the security dll, or it's not registered in the registry, or you simply have to elevate your permissions when you run the program.
