I already subscribe to a dotnet development site that offers videos. Don't get me wrong they can be very useful. Where the problem lies is the presentation and articulation of the presenter and that also involves the tools used and any post-editing that's needed. Perhaps the hamsters need to make some suggestions as to what's useful out there. Cheap tools may well be okay but they fall short in many other areas. Sometimes they're cheap for a reason and that could be because they're not worth paying for.
My second concern is that there are people who may want to use CP as a convenience store to promote their own paid-for content hosted elsewhere, sort of springboard advertising by another name. I hope you good folks at CP will stop that happening. I know it's sometimes difficult to see who is in the marketplace but I really hope that some policing is implemented to keep posting for a free community proportionate to an acceptable cost. I have no problem with anyone wanting to make some money but I'd not want to pay for anything unless I know something about the quality. In other words look at the somewhat questionable quality that Microsoft pumped out on their channel 9 in the early years.
I'm sure we'll all get an idea about it all in the months ahead. I really hope it succeeds and I wish the CP team all the best for it.

Excellent points, and ones we have discussed.
We want the best videos you guys, and our training partners, can make and we're going to be very aggressive about ensuring the top videos are the ones that get the most exposure, and the poor ones are de-emphasised (to use a euphemism).
Vote! Vote on the videos like there's no tomorrow! That way we can direct everyone to the good stuff, not the dud stuff.
And yes, the tools are incredibly important and we'll be posting videos on creating great videos.
cheers,
