Before logging out I had all e-mail notifications disabled for both Discussion forums, and Newletters & Emails.
After logging back in, they are all enabled, surprise.
Other settings, signature, e-mail subs, etc., seem to be unchanged.
Of course it was a thrill to get an e-mail forwarded from Pete O'Hanlon
thanks, Bill

That might have been me mucking about. Please reset to whatever you wish those settings to be, and then throw something at me if it's still not working.

For a while now (a couple of months), I've seen that the forums sometimes redirects to the next page for no reason. It usually happens while I'm on a different tab. It also seems to have its moods: for weeks, I wouldn't see this problem at all, then for a day or two it would happen repeatedly. Is this a known problem? Any idea what's causing it?
I'm using Firefox on Windows 7.

Have you been hitting Cltr+Shift+right arrow accidentally?

I don't think so, but it is possible. I'll try to pay more attention if it happens again.
Also, sorry for taking so long to reply. I've been away from the internet for a while.

Alright, it happened again. I did not press Ctrl+Shift+right arrow , but I did press Ctrl+PgDn , which I often do to switch tabs. Repeating this a few times in a row, I see that Ctrl+PgDn navigates to the next page, while Ctrl+PgUp navigates to the previous page (unless I am on page 1).

Chris + Co,
Have you made up any new banners with the new bob header & styles etc that can be used for linking back to code project or Codeproject.tv or rootadmin etc. (or even Developer Media)
I am in the middle of rebuilding my website and only have the old ones, and could do with the refresh.
Cheers,
Dave

I try to read articles sometimes on my Windows Phone 8.0. It does not work properly, the rows don't wrap when using the IE browser in my phone.
Are you aware of this? Something you are working on?

No, not aware, but I'll ask Matthew to check. He has the office Windows Phone.

I have checked on my win phone 7.5 and found that if I have my browser set to Mobile mode the layout is terrible and the font too small. However, in Desktop mode, or viewing full site, everything is beautiful. Probably a simple css issue.
I have my phone in Desktop mode, as the mobile experience on many sites is poor, and does not make use of the size of the WP display
|
|
|
|

Everything isn't beautiful, I'm afraid. The popups on the vote up/vote down don't appear on messages, and the options to Vote abuse/spam disappear before you can possibly click on them.

See my post[^] where I explained what I have to do to up-/down-vote on forum messages when I am on my Windows Phone 8.
A little further down in the thread, I explain what I have to do to activate items on the hover-popup menus.
I thought about posting this as a Tip, but it could quickly get outdated due to a change on CP or in the WP8 browser.

I always view the sites in Desktop mode when I am using my WP8.
The main issue I have when reading articles has to due with the font size on text formatted with the plain code tag (var) . The text is very small compared to the normal text and I have to zoom in to read it and then zoom back out to continue reading the article. I would love to see that being fixed.

I do not have this problem when reading the articles on my Lumia 920. It generally works just fine. Are you loading the site in Mobile or Full Site mode?
I did see an article waiting to be approved a few days ago where the lines did not wrap correctly - I was looking at it on my phone, but I was not able to get to my PC to check if it was a problem there as well.

The problem is only in Mobile mode.

What I do now is go the reputation-report page; that, of course, shows only a record of my posts, my votes, answers, etc.
Of course, if someone upvotes me on the Lounge, or up/down votes outside the Lounge, then the rep-grid has that, but, the link there, of course, takes me to my post; I may have to scroll down some amount to locate the response to my post, depending on the number of responses, location in the thread.
What I'd like to do is to quickly see if anyone has recently responded to any of my posts. No matter whether they voted, or not. Same reason I tend to responses to my e-mails, daily, in most recent to prior order.
Is there a way, that I am not aware of, to quickly find responses to one's posts ?
If there isn't, and CP thinks this would be a valuable feature compared to other features "in the queue," worth implementing, I do have a few specific ideas.
thanks, Bill

Notifications ??? The small red button with a number at the side of your rep-points in the right-top corner???? What about that?

I thought the same thing.

Hi, Amitosh, and Slacker 007,
Note that I fully agree with CP's decision not to allow private user-to-user e-mail within CP, and I am not raising/discussing that issue here !
I am using Chrome Version 27.0.1453.110 m. Win8/64
On any regular CP page, there is no "red button with a number" at the side of the rep-points total number at page top-right.
I have gone into "My Account," and examined every setting-page available; I do not see a facility to turn on any setting/notification that would render a red button on every public CP page. Yes, there are e-mail notification options, both of which I have unchecked.
The closest thing I can find is under Name/My Messages: there certain posts have a light-bulb icon left of their title; that icon, like all other icons left of the message title, has no on-hover pop-up hinting at its purpose. I have not searched all CP documentation/help yet, so whether or not the light-bulb icon's meaning is documented, is as yet, unknown, although, of course, its logical to infer that in this context, it must mean, somehow, "something new," or, "something special."
I have tested the assumption that the presence of the light-bulb icon indicates a response to the message that the current user has not read, but, both within one session of using CP, and after closing and re-opening CP, the fact that every post on the thread has been read does not change the light-bulb icon to what appears to be the default for most messages.
Now, it may be possible that the light-bulb icon is based on the relative newness/time of the response to the OP or other responses, i.e., the date, and, by default, is independent of when the response is read by the OP.
So, I am currently "in the dark" about the light-bulb being "on."
Of course, the switch for the light-bulb could be staring me in the face, and I am ready to eat my words
yours, Bill
