In order to do what you want, your windows service is going to have to become a WCF service and will need to be setup pretty much like a web site would be.... So, what you are creating is a two way system...
Think of it like this...
You currently have...
Client -> Server.....
Client can send out and server can respond...
If server could Client <-- Server.. then client would not have any way to listen of respond... now you could add your own sockets and listen.. etc.. but that is reinventing the wheel.
Or even time based checking is a option..
What I think you want is
Server<--->Server.
Both can talk at any time and the other one will know when to listen.. this is what WCF will do... it will allow you to listen to server based events from your remote machine.. you will have to turn your web servic/client into a server...
Check out this article, it explains more about it.

Hi! I can't start Web Site Administration Tool.
I suspect that maybe SQLserver isn't installed properly.
|
|
|
|
|
Do you get an error?
There are only 10 types of people in the world, those who understand binary and those who don't.

Yes, but I can't check right now.
However I think it could have been something concerning SQL server.
I have Web express 2010. If you didn't include that in the install, can you do it after?

What do you mean? How do you install SQL?

I'm trying to help others and they seem to have SQL server installed but still there is a problem with Web Site Administration Tool.
I was thinking that maybe there is a problem in the connection.

You'll need to get the error. There are millions of reasons something might not work so you have to start with the error.

Hello,
Please accept my lack of expressiveness, I am a newbie to posting on forums. I have an ASP.NET application with a problem and your help might come in very handy.
A gridView statically bound to a datasource but during runtime, I add rows dynamically as group separators. Ex. the datasource retrieves 24 rows that can be classified into 4 groups, so I dynamically add a header row ahead of each group of data rows. Now this should make the total count of the gridView rows 28 but this is not the case. It remains 24 as is.
The gridview has a column of checkboxes that I need to store their values, I do a
foreach(GridView row) but the loop stops before reaching the last 4 rows and in the "watches", the GridView.Rows.Count is 24 not 28.
Does anybody have an explanation for this? Your help is very much appreciated.
