Can you change the message board's search, so I don't have to go to codeguru

Huh??? You'd move to another site just because the message board search isn't to your liking???? Ok. That makes no sense to me... Ok... CP does have a large community and it leads to some excellent discussions and the message boards and full of valuable information but isn't the sheer amount of articles reason enough to stay at CP???
Just hit me if I'm off the mark here.

I move to codeguru if I have a programming related problem, I'll never close my codeproject window
I think you should take a look at the codeguru search

Have they improved it recently? I quit using that site because the latest articles lists visual basic stuff and the search returned more visual basic results than anything.

2. Thanks for the example, and I'll implement it right away.
3. Thanks for the example, and I'll put it on the todo list with low priority.

5. Thanks is the default answer to a stupid question.

Can you add an advanced search to the homepage search, so if I search for articles, I can set for example the article type to MFC/c++ so I don't find the .Net and other type of articles.
Thanks in advance

There are the different categories down the left had side of the screen.
You could also trying using google to search CP only....
e.g. Type --> "MFC Button Controls site:www.codeproject.com" into google.

If your looking for an article and you don't know the category it's placed in it should be handy to have an language selector.
An if you use the article search you can find what your looking for very fast.

I think this is not what you want. Search on another site for something you should find on the site itself.

Yes. I agree with you there but sometimes it's a must.. Like with the MSDN... that search is unbelievably bad.. using google I almost always find what I'm looking for.

I was just going to ask for this feature... I hate when I search for a C++ article and get hundreds of .NET results. It is just a waste of my time.

Hi All,
I'm a professional developer, who works in MS VS.NET at work, developing WinForms and ASP.NET apps in C#.
I am also a Linux geek, & have recently been playing with Mono [http://www.go-mono.org/] a lot. For those who don't know, Mono is a Free cross-platform implementation of .NET.
My question is - are articles written about C# under Mono appropriate for this site? Specifically, I'm intending on writing some .NET-ified libraries etc., & releasing them under the GPL.
Yours,
Duncan Bayne

Absolutely. However, please reconsider using the GPL licence - it's overly restrictive. Consider instead the artistic licence or more simply a 'use and enjoy but don't remove my copyright notices' licence.

Posted a new article yesterday ASP.NET Validators Unclouded[^] and it has to be said that I'm really not fond of the new interface. Two problems in particular:
1) I spend a lot of time formatting the HTML so that I can actually maintain the article. The way it reformats now (particularly removing whitespace, but I'm also not keen on upper-case HTML tags) is ugly at best, unbearable at worst. If I have to make changes then it will have to be to the article as I wrote it, not the edited version, which isn't great news for the editors.
2) It seems to change all ".php" to ".php" meaning that I have a line of code half way down my article saying
Response.Redirect("anvokay.phpx", true); That makes no sense! I assume this has something to do with the fact that the whole site seems to be PHP rather than ASP now, but if you want people to submit ASP[.NET] articles then this isn't a great help
I haven't noticed anything else... yet... but in short, it would be nice if it actually retained the HTML you give it.

DOH! Okay, very funny
Not sure it's the best idea having that happen in the middle of articles, but okay, you got me
Still, the reformatting is a problem.

Hit the 'HTML' button in the editor and just use it in non-WYSIWYG mode.
The PHP thing - well - you don't *seriously* expect us to do a full rewrite in a day
