Note that source code associated with an article that was written by the author must be provided with the article. External links to the most up-to-date version (or online demo) are fine, but we still require at least a workable version to be submitted with your article to be made available on CodeProject. The reason for this is that 9 times out of 10 links to external downloads break within months due to any number of unavoidable factors. Having a local copy on CodeProject means at least some code will still be available.
I think hosting the code on GitHub tends to be OK. It's more problematic when the code is hosted on a personal blog which could disappear overnight.
However, that's just my opinion, and might not reflect the views of the hamsters.

We're happy to have an external link to github if you want, but we do ask to host a local one as well.

Hi,
Thanks for approving the update to my tip/trick "A Micro Web Server Using WCF". Can I get this featured in the latest tip/tricks page?
Thanks again,
Mike

Hmmm. Not sure what went wrong. I've corrected. Should be on the list now.

If author goes to the revision list of his article - 'Revisions' on left side menu, he will find a 'Rollback' button next to each revision...

Thanks for the response. I suggested to do this.

Hi, while submitting articles on Hadoop stack (Hive, PIG etc), what section and tags should be used as the existing options in the drop down are not relevant.
TIA

I was working on this article - http://www.codeproject.com/script/Articles/SubmissionWizard.aspx?aid=737918[^], left the computer for 5 minutes, when returned I found my girl playing around with the mouse...It seems he deleted the draft
There is any way to restore it?!

Sad but I found funny. Sweet lesson from your kid.
Lock the system OR use Offline Editor OR ....

|
|

The really funny is that the kid was in bed already, just was unable to go to sleep because of the heat weather and that she was thirsty. So she came to ask me a cup of water, but I was away so she sat down and started to play.
What isn't funny that I was working on it since march...

That's really very sad. It's always better to keep a local copy. Still I didn't post any articles here but I have a copy of my first article since 2010(development hell). And I don't use that offline article editor, just one html file with CP stylesheet. I heard that few lounge guys simply use Notepad. So try any of this hereafter.

We put in place some mechanisms to stop this, but it seems your little girl was too clever.
Just to clarify: can I assume that you were writing a draft and had not yet published? I'm guessing your little one clicked the "abandon this article" button.
I think we can add some checks that can further protect (or at least provide some recovery options) if this was what happened.
cheers

I believe you mean the popup while hitting 'Discard draft' button. It works. All my girl did is hitting the 'attractive' buttons, first the red, then the bold (In Chrome the 'Ok' button is bold and for that inviting the eye).
If you have an idea of restore, let say in 24 hours, that should be good...

Is it possible to put greek letters in the text of an article? I tried the HTML μ for the Greek letter mu, but it did not get rendered.

Yes indeed. All fixed.

Could you also fix the ω ? How did you fix it?
Thanks

Also fixed. Somewhere in the process the &s there were turned into &s
