Microsoft's next major Windows release is rumored to have some connection to a 'Windows as a Service' concept. But WaaS may not be what many think. Can we kill this bad idea (WaaS) before it goes any further?

Goodbye Windows 8 and 8.1, Hello something probably worse and unnecessary in ways we cannot yet even fathom until Microsoft drops it on us like a ton of misplaced bricks in a couple weeks.

Java could add read-evaluation-print-loop tool as part of Project Kulla, but analysts wonder if it's a good fit. Because real coders write all their code interactively?

OpenJDK loves its religious symbolism. Valhalla, Kulla (ancient Mesopotamian god of building)...maybe they're taking themselves a wee bit too seriously?

Shame they chose PPI - everyone will 'switch off' thinking it is an advert for reclaiming mis-sold payment protection insurance.

Later this month, Microsoft is expected to release a public build of Windows Threshold for use by developers and enthusiasts alike. But, if you are a top tier Microsoft partner, there is a good chance that you already have access to these builds. More proof it doesn't exist

Why do regular coffee drinkers seem to need more and more coffee to maintain the buzz? Can coffee actually kill you? An AsapSCIENCE video has answers. The good news: it probably won't kill you

I think you right! I myself do not drink coffee, but those around me who drink, make themselves 5-6 cups a day, but drink only 1-2 of it...The others are excuses to get off the chair, off the screen...

The massive iCloud hack that exposed photos of female actresses stored in their personal Apple accounts, has left many—including myself—scrambling to change their passwords. Step 0: don't store stuff in the cloud you want to protect

That's news to me. I've always enjoyed six.

C++ is already at least 7 versions old (Visual C++ is not a language, but a vendor's version of C++).
VB 6 was inordinately successful.
Java 6 was quite successful too.
He seems too keen to manipulate the facts to fit his theory. I expect better from DDJ.

In a Weibo posting today, Microsoft China asked "Microsoft’s latest OS Windows 9 is coming soon, do you think the start menu at the left bottom will make a come back?" Sure, but what do they know? I have it on good authority that Windows 9 doesn't exist.
