He's a clever one, using real words and everything. For his next trick - spelling and grammar.

1. Is there something wrong with posting a link to a survey for one's research?
2. The link didn't even work.
3. Perhaps just reply to the message.
4. Why post a link to the member for one message?

Member link removed. Further, its site driving some how which is not allowed. We are not here to fill up their survey forms regardless of availability of that link(I have not accessed it yet)

I see people posting links to their sites all the time, especially in signatures, and people only seem to have a problem with newbies doing it.
Just saying.

I had very long discussion with Chris over this issue and he told me that there is nothing wrong in using ones own work as a signature.

If its not according to guidelines, you should report it here. No matter member is newbie or whatever.

IMO, a link to a survey was not promoting anything and should be fine.
Just my useless opinion.

Agree... the only "sin" I found is that he could have choosen the forum for "Beta tests / Collaboration".
Regarding the request, I see no big difference between:
I am having problems in my degree project. My code is...
and
I need help to complete my degree research. Please answer this survey...
Other thing is if the link doesn't really point to a survey. Then hammer out and no mercy.

It's gone - he isn't.
And the hamsters read this page - so they can sometimes clean up the mess before we get to the disappear-from-spam-votes point.

That doesn't mean that only seldom visited corner's content should be reported here.

Sure it does. It clearly is an ignored "rule" of this forum but that is what the forum rules say. Hey, I'm just the messenger, not the enforcer.
Actually, it would be a little funny to start marking as abuse those posts in this forum that don't follow the rule. I won't do it, but it would be ironically funny.

What surprises me is that we don't get spam here in the Spam and abuse forum!
We did have one "honest" chappie who posted his spam to the "buzzwords bingo" forum when it existed.

Good point. You would think if someone were coming to post spam they would see the SPAM forum and go there.
