Hey guys,
I need to embed a web browser in a dialog for a project I'm working on which doesn't use MFC. Does anyone have any sample code to do this?
Cheers

Hi Mike, thanks for the reply.
I don't know anything about ATL. Does it require any external libraries like MFC?
Cheers

Web browser without MFC article[^].
And, if you don't like Internet Explorer, Mozilla is distributed along with an .ocx to play with. The Gecko engine itself can also be embedded using a C/C++ SDK.

is there a SQL statement to COMPACT DATABASE ?

There is COMPACT TABLE statement but you can not use it in Access
as far as I know. Try VB/VBS/ASP/ADO like this:
http://www.pstruh.cz/tips/detpg_CompactMDB.htm[^]
or C++ like this:
Visual C++: Compacting an Access Database via ADO
Besides #import, the Msado15.dll (MDAC2.1), add the following #import statement to generate the wrapper classes for JRO to your .cpp classes (alternatively, you can generate the wrapper classes more efficiently by using the no_implementation and implementation_only attributes of the #import pre-processor statement):#import "C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\System\ado\MSJRO.DLL" no_namespace
Add the following (specifying your own source and destination database paths) to the .cpp file where you want to compact the database:...
try
{
IJetEnginePtr jet(__uuidof(JetEngine));
jet->CompactDatabase(
"Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=d:\\nwind2.mdb",
"Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=d:\\abbc.mdb;" \
"Jet OLEDB:Engine Type=4");
}
catch(_com_error &e)
{
::MessageBox(NULL, (LPCTSTR)e.Description( ), "", MB_OK) ;
}

Given that you are using an Access database, you could use CDaoWorkspace::CompactDatabase() .

hey,
i wrote a program that recieves video from a webcam, priviews
it and also captures it (compressed) to disk, at the same time.
now i need to be able to send the video that's being recieved,
through LAN to clients, which will also be able to priview and
capture it. my questions are:
1) is it possible (to send to multiple clients assuming that it's
not a 1GB network)?
2) is it done using a directshow filter (file async?!?!) or do i
have to implement it myself using winsock?
3) should i send the priview pin or what i compressed to file
to save bandwidth?
4) should i use directplay, RTC?
5) any source samples about this out there, that can get me
started in the right direction?
any help is very much appriciated

How does one make another function the actual entry point into a Win32 app?
I've seen it on Codewarrior on the Macintosh that you specify what function is your entry point..
How do you do it in VC 6?
|
|
|
|
|
Select Project/Settings, go to the Link tab, select Category: Output and there you should see the "Entry-point symbol" editbox. From there you can change the entry-point of your application, which when left empty defaults to "WinMain" for win32 applications and "main" for console applications.

|
|
|

Yes, you can do that. But just out of curiosity, would it be a standard program then? I mean, doesn't the standard specify that main() should be the starting point?
In fact, Turbo C++ has a pragma option called startup that will let you start from another function, but after that, main() will be called.

I don't see any use in changing the entry point neither, except wWinMain and wmain of course. Anyway it's just a function and called only once (as long as you're not recursing in main) I guess people have different tastes and different ways to obfuscate their code. You never know

I have a text/rich text box on a dialog. Vertical scroll is enabled for this text box. I write text on the text box. Ofcourse some text may be hidden that we can see after scrolling up or down.
Now i want everything written in the text box to be represented by a CBitmap object. How can i do so ????
Actually i want the contents of text box to be stored in a bmp file. I know how to store CBitmap contents in a BMP file, but i don't know how to first represent the text box contents in CBitmap object (as it is).
Thanks

you can redirect a RichText control's output using the DrawBand and FormatRange calls. i don't have any code handy to share, but it really only takes a few lines to do this. try googling on those function calls.
