Tools, Options, Editor tab, Statement completion options. If it is not working, it usually means the code has a syntax error.

I think so because I can get the members list in some funcions that decleared as virtual function and I cann't in other functions that decleared as afx_msg function. I donn't know why

I'm having a serious amount of trouble interpreting some data in an AS400 database file.
If I look at the Binary representation of the data in the AS400, I see
(The values are vertical/columns)
Example 1:
<br />
001<br />
10F<br />
Now on the AS400 this = 1001
When I pull this data to Windows, I get Hex(01 00 1F) or 65567
Example 2:
<br />
000<br />
01F<br />
Now on the AS400 this = 10
When I pull this data to Windows, I get Hex(00 01 0F) or 271
Example 3:
<br />
001<br />
00F<br />
Now on the AS400 this = 1
When I pull this data to Windows, I get Hex(00 00 1F) or 31
Now the project at hand is build a utility that will extract this data, and populate a perform value analysis on this.. But I can't figure out an algorithm which will convert this so something useful.
Has anyone got any clues about converting this?

Don't you need to convert from EBCDIC to ASCII?
|
|
|
|
|
I hope it's as simple as that.
ALthough from the reading I've done.. EBCDIC isn't that easy to convert from.
I could be due to the fact the AS400 (rpg) programmers don't really know how it(as400) packs the data, it just "is"

Funny you should mention, as I work with an RPG programmer. His code runs on the AS/400, while mine runs on the PC (Windows). Whenever I send him data, it must be converted from ASCII to EBCDIC. Whenever he sends me data, it must be converted from EBCDIC to ASCII. I use a library provided by IBM that has a couple of convertors in it.

Hey guys, I am a first year engineering student at waikato university , New Zealand.
I have only been programming for about 8 weeks now and have been asked to produce a graphical computer simulation of a yatch (our engineering design project) making its way around the course we have set up. The yatch needs to be no more than a dot, but it must respond to user inputs which change the rudder and sail angle. I have got the formulas down, but actually drawing the window etc. is beyond me, as all my previous work has been with console applications. We are allowed to use source code found in other sources provided we show which bits were original work and which were borrowed, the main thing that the assessors are interested in is correct implementation of the physics.
Anyway, my point is that It would be a big help if any of you guys knows were i can find some existing code that could be altered to solve this problem. I have tried searching, but am unsure of what to look for, or where to look.
The code would need to be pretty basic as I am a beginer.
Thanks in advance.

...programming for about 8 weeks...
Here is some VB code: http://www.freevbcode.com/default.asp[^]
or are you really looking for VC++ drawing code?

No, sorry we are only allowed to use c++, besides i havent been taught any vb. Anyway, I have found my self a graphics library and am currently working through the documentation.

Hi, all
How can I get a window’s current view placement order (also called “Zorder”)? And is it possible to enumerate from the absolute top window to the last? So that the first window you get has the highest Zorder.

I think that is going to depend on exactly WHERE you want to enumerate from and what type on windows you are trying to enumerate. Being that i'm not sure what you mean here is my best guess. I would use ::GetWindow( ::GetDesktopWindow(), GW_HWNDFIRST ); after that it looks like you can just sit in a loop. This is not recommended though according to the docs. I'm not sure of the exact zorder impact ( ordering ) but the other thing to try would be to give EnumChildWindows a shot. Well good luck.

OK Thanks, why isn't it recommended?

According to the documentation calling GetWindow in a loop is unsafe because it could get you into a infinite loop. This probably has to do with the zorder changing on windows that you are enumerating. EnumChildWindows takes this into account and protects against it happening.

See if GetTopWindow() will get you started.

Hi,
Can anybody suggest me some code profiler which is simple to use. I just need the timing analysis of all the functions that are invoked in the project.
I am working on VC++
For eg. any command gprof in unix will suffice.
I have tried using glowcode but not so friendly and the profiler in msdev is not handy.
Please suggest.
Thanks,
Prashant

Hello,
how can I change the Title of an MDI-Child-Window? I tried to use SetWindowText in my "view-class" but nothing happend...?

This has recently been answered in this message forum. A search should find it. You need to look at CMainFrame::OnUpdateFrameTitle().

Hi everybody,
I have a big problem.
I would like to execute the plink.exe (putty) program from my vc++ code.
The command line is pretty long (because of ssh tunnels definition).
My problem is that I must wait that the tunnel are established for trying a connection with my socket.
So I know how to launch an executable from a vc++ program but how can I know that the connection is ready.
I mean when I launch plink.exe the command line is unavailable for the time of the establishment of the tunnel and after the command line is available. And at this time I would be able to try my Connect from my socket.
Hope I explained well,
Rgds

Does CreateProcess() and WaitForSingleObject() help?
|
|
|
|
|
Maybe but how do I use the WaitForSingleObject() for telling me that the connection is established ?
|
|
|
|
|
I was just assuming that plink was used to make the connection. If so, something like the following might work:
PROCESS_INFORMATION pi;
CreateProcess("plink.exe", ..., &pi);
WaitForSingleObject(pi.hProcess, ...);
I may be way off on this, however, as I don't fully understand your problem.
