Quote: This change in workflow means that developers are not only cranking out code from 9 to 5, they are also on duty from 5 to 9. Those 2 a.m. bug notifications are an unwelcome alarm clock for developers,
Fortunately, the fact that my brain classifies my phone ringing as equivalent to car traffic, songbirds, the elephanting roosters crows, etc as something to sleep through means that my sleep deprived 2am brain won't be making an even bigger disaster to confront at 8.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

A quick and dirty calculation reveals that you could print the entire internet on 136 billion pieces of standard 8-by-11 sheets of paper. Or you could do it with one very large sheet

Quote: it would take 16 million trees to print 136 billion sheets of standard 8-by-11 sheets of paper. That's more than three times the number of trees growing in New York City at this moment. Somehow it's less impressive after reading this. Call again when it takes more trees than there are on Earth.

JavaScript can be a deceiving language and it can be a real pain because it isn’t 100% consistent. Just because there are braces and semicolons doesn't mean it works the same way

Quote: most programmers hate JavaScript for 2 reasons:
- The DOM, which they erroneously think is equivalent to the JavaScript language, which has quite a terrible API.
- They come to JavaScript from languages like C and Java. They are fooled by JavaScript’s syntax into believing that it works the same way as those imperative languages do. This misconception will lead to confusion, frustration, and bugs.
That’s why, generally, JavaScript has a worse reputation than it deserves.
No, #1 in particular is why the clusterelephant of a language deserves all of the hatred and loathing it gets.

4D printing is unfolding as technology that takes 3D printing to an entirely new level.
Time is of the essence.
What do you get when you cross a joke with a rhetorical question?
The metaphorical solid rear-end expulsions have impacted the metaphorical motorized bladed rotating air movement mechanism.
Do questions with multiple question marks annoy you???

Calling it "4D printing" is quite misleading because the object is not changing during the print process but afterwards through stimuli. Maybe something like "3D printing with transformable materials" would better describe it. Guess "4D printing" just sounds cooler.

I'm a little tired of writing about passwords. But like taxes, email and pinkeye, they're not going away any time soon. "MargaretThatcheris110%Sexy"
...and now you can't unsee that. It's kind of like The Ring, pass it on, and you're safe.

Brute force attackers don't try short passwords, so very short passwords are safest.

You know, you might be right. Last time I looked at one of those files (way, way back in the L0phtcrack days), I don't remember seeing stuff < 4 characters.

People knowing different languages seem to have an advantage. For example, my passwords are chosen from compound Sanskrit words, and compound Kannada words; there are several ways of compounding words (all grammatically correct).

Welsh village names work a treat too

But are you allowed that many characters for the password?

It depends on the password
LlanbedrDC is ok but Llanfairpwllgwyngychgogerychrwyndrobwlllantisiliogogogoch wears out a lot of keyboard

Most of them aren't too bad to type really; Llanfairfechan, Capel Curig, Bethesda, Yr Wyddgrug.. you can even use other points too like Afon Dyfrdwy, Yr Hen Coed, Ty Bach

Just send me to an island - preferably one with miserable weather.
If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack.
