Since .NET framework is open source and can be used to create cross-platform applications. The very first non-Windows platform I would love to use it on would be surely Android, then I would love to build the apps for iOS. Once that is done, I would create apps for Mac OS.
Enough creating?
As a .NET developer, I am not interested in just developing the applications. .NET framework is huge! I have been developing applications since 2 years in pure .NET, and I have not even reached the verge or any thing near. It is very huge. I need to learn it as for now. Applying it for open-source cross-platform stuff won't be my choice.
Secondly, gaming engines can be better handled using Unity. Why should we build something new on .NET core when we already have Unity which enables us to use the power of .NET... But I really felt sad when there was no Android but Windows Phone. This survey needed to talk about non-Windows platforms. Windows-based platforms already have .NET framework! Not a big deal, and all of us have already created enormous amount of programs in .NET framework.

Unity uses a custom implementation of Mono which corresponds roughly to .NET 3.5, so if you want to use features from the later versions of .NET, you're mostly out of luck.
Plus, Unity's core really isn't .NET/Mono. It's native code (C++ most likely). Mono is used to script the core.
It seems to be the trend these days. Two of the most used proprietary engines out there (Unity and UE4) both make use of .NET/Mono.

So the previous survey seems to have been replaced by a version that allows multiple selection, yet no mention of Android.

Microsoft's .NET runs on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X. Mono supports Linux, Mac OS X, iPhone OS, Sun Solaris, BSD, Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Wii and Sony PlayStation 3.

I thought Android would be a good choice, because many .NET devs are using Xamarin to build Android apps.

I'd like to, but I really don't want to spend the money on a nice MAC again. This business is expensive enough as it is.
I bought one back in 2005, one of those Mac Pro's with the clear handles and dual CPU's, and that nice 17" monitor that matched. It was like 3.5K back then.
And did it improve the quality of my work?, NO
Did I work faster?, NO
Did I make more money? NO
But the option does sound nice.

You can get a Mac mini from 499 $. It is reasonable machine includes the MacOS and the full development IDE XCode (not a lite version). So it isnt too expensive.

Exactly. I bought a Mac Mini. Works great for that kind of stuff.
I already have monitors, etc.
I did add a Keyboard/Mouse/Monitor switch.
I also added TeamViewer to allow remote control.
I don't use it much, but it is there.

My Mac Mini was working great with XCode until I upgraded to the latest version of the MacOS... and now it's incredibly *slow*.

If you're planning on making a living iOS apps, you may want to consider the proportion of apps that make money (for anyone but Apple that is).

Oh sometimes I think it's easier to sell MAC and IOS apps than Windows and Windows Phone Apps.
I'm sure it's just an illusion.
But I would like to make a card draw app, in which you press a button and the same 8 cards are shown in a random sequence.
Used for pairing up people in tournaments and racing.
