It's important to check the email address every now and then. The site has only limited amount of ink so wasting ink on mails that do not find the reader makes no sense.
To ensure that we do not run out of characters (because of running out of ink) we've acquired a load of baby squids. However, as you understand, since they are babies (small) the amount of ink they can produce is very limited. So in short your help is appreciated so that we don't need to be bothering baby squids all the time.

Your response might be considered funny, but not very helpful.
Still waiting for some sort of enlightenment from the gate keepers.
As if my word that it's still valid and good isn't good enough.
Still waiting for a meaningful response!
Cheers!
P.S.: A really good reason why this is absolutely necessary would help!
I've had this email address for about two decades and see no reason why I should have to confirm it.

Ok, this is getting ridiculous! You now insist on me confirming my email address before I can post in any other fora than this.
Why? Why? Why?
I've seen the messages in my inbox just dying for me to click that confirmation link, but I still don't see any reason behind it.
Please explain!

I'm not able to find the post at the moment, but I have a faint memory that it was "needed" to reconfirm the emails for the new spam filter.

a) We only send mail to email addresses that we know are real email addresses. Sending to addresses that aren't real addresses gets you blacklisted as a spammer.
b) We only allow participants in forums who have confirmed email addresses so that (i) it's harder to sign up with fake addresses and go crazy, and (ii) so we know we can contact members in case of abuse.

Unfortunately no. Did you click the link to have a confirmation email sent to you? Let me resend one to you just in case.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but could you send me one too? I seem to have stopped receiving forum post emails.
Thanks

Thanks. There ought to be a link to that page in the Settings page.

Now that I have clicked confirm email, will I now start getting emails for replies?
I have these checked but do not receive emails when there is a reply to my message.
Default Post options Send me an e-mail if someone replies to the message
Allow private email replies to the message

No message received. Checked Junk, not there. Checked that new fantrabulous addition MS has added, the Clutter folder. Not there.
However, I do get the weekly Web Developer Newsletter
Whoa, just found this and checked it. Could be the resolution.

Where you are wrong is that you are not involved at all. Unless you are telling us that you have multiple accounts for some reason.

Member 11830601 wrote: And tell me where I'm wrong You were given a quite sensible response by Dave K, to talk to Microsoft about your problem of getting your hardware to work with their software. But rather than consider the merits of that sensible suggestion, you just abused him in no uncertain terms. That sort of behaviour generally gets you kicked off this site fairly quickly. You could ask the administrators to allow you back, but repeatedly creating sock puppet accounts to add more abuse does not help your case.

No sorry, please check again. I only wrote a comment, I'm/was not the OP.

Yep maybe abusive...even I compare my comment against some of the answerers/comments....my comment was nice.
But the only thing I'm bothering: Please do not condemn OP. It was me who wrote the comment, not OP.

Sorry, I simply commented an answer that was "NOT AN ANSWER". Should it be an answer because the one has some K of Points? No! Sorry no, no, no!
And the ill-considered reports hurt the OP!

Is that you Mr. Speaker?
In case your previous account was wrongfully closed, please post to Suggestions & Bugs.
Lashing out at the community like this will not do your case any good.
Kind regards,
