I have VSS, but I was just looking out for the unfortunate souls out there. Besides, we would have to do Remote Source Control, so plain VSS is out of the running anyway.

Not to be a "Negative Nancy" but VSS is just about the worse development tool I have ever used esp. when it comes to significantly sized projects.
It is fine for a small projects but just dose not scale well. Don't belive me? Look as MS, they moved their development teams away from it long ago.
It would be a shame and waste of time to have to migrate a VSS repisitory to something like CVS or any of the better SCMs well into a project.
Hey don't worry, I can handle it. I took something. I can see things no one else can see. Why are you dressed like that?

I have a license for VSS but I still use CVS because of several reasons. CVS is way more widely used. CVS can be used in a remote environment. CVS is free.

Let me know what you need in terms of infrastructure. While we can't, in the short term, offer a SourceForg type environment I am more than happy to try and shoehorn whatever we currently have into whatever form is needed. Maybe there is a only a tiny change you need made for one of our systems to work a little better.

Notice how he didn't say anything about not winding them VERY VERY tightly!
Perhaps a bowtie?

Would it be asking too much if you could put something on the homepage or maybe at the top of the c++ forum linking to this thread?
It would only have to be there for a week or so.

I might add something...
Please vote on the ideas using the message voting system we have in place here at CP. That might make things easier.
Oh, and be nice.

That's a good idea. Because if you vote by replying, the thread will get 'way too big.

How about saying the name of the idea in the subject line instead. Thanks.

I second that.
Remember, you can modify your messages.

Maybe start an ideas comments section below the general comments section, and have a sub-thread for each idea?

Just post it here with a good message title.
If you would like to elaborate on the idea, then post a new message in the IDEAS thread with your elaboration.
We'll get the top few messages based on voting and then we'll pick one amongst ourselves.
