The whole point of CTRL+ATL+DEL (as I once heard somewhere) is that you can't get it because it prevents anyone writing things that can popup and pretend to be windows and get user's passwords.
So it would be a serious security hole if there was a way to intercept it.

There are several alternatives in Win2k
1. Make another similar OS
2. Get the source code from Win2k, change it and rebuild
3. Hack the kernel
Well, CTRL-ALT-DEL is protected by the OS.
See the help instructions at "press CTRL-ALT-DEL to logon" screen. (Yes, there is a help there!)
It explains how to press CTRL-ALT-DEL (I´m not kidding) and why the OS is made this way.

I am developing an application that uses TAPI and voice recognition to maintain voice mails.
I would like to use an inexpensive voice modem to provide the hardware interface. One possibility is PcTel V.90 Voice/Fax/Data Modem. This is a voice capable soft modem.
I am looking for examples on how to capture the raw data stream from the speaker in real-time. I want to support both touch-tone (DTMF) and voice navigation of the menus.
I need the real-time capture so that I can process the voice as the user is speaking. I can then isolate phrases and perform comparisons on command sets.
Does anyone have example code on how to capture voice messages real-time through TAPI? I want to avoid sending the voice to a file first. Is it possible to direct the raw voice to a memory-based file?
Thanks
TJW

Have you looked at the Microsoft Speech SDK. Version 4 of the SDK had some TAPI samples, I guess the latest version will still have those too.

I have bene surfing around the net, and have found a few examples of using hooks to record information from the keyboard, however I have been unable to find anything to play stuff back (ie: a macro program) to a task/program.

Take a look of the Journal hooks, you also find an example in the MSDN.

Can anybody tell me how to convert from 8.3 format filenames to long filenames under Win95. GetLongPathName() is only available from Win98 upwards.

Just in case anybody else has the same problem here is one solution I was given by someone in one of the Borlands newsgroups:
void GetLongFileName(LPSTR src,LPSTR dest)
{
LPSHELLFOLDER psfDesktop = 0;
ULONG chEaten = 0;
LPITEMIDLIST pidlShellItem = 0;
char szLongPath[MAX_PATH] = { 0 };
WCHAR szShortPath[MAX_PATH];
MultiByteToWideChar(CP_ACP,0,filename,-1,szShortPath,sizeof(szShortPath));
HRESULT hr = ::SHGetDesktopFolder(&psfDesktop);
if (hr != NOERROR)
return;
hr = psfDesktop->ParseDisplayName(0, 0, szShortPath, &chEaten, &pidlShellItem, 0);
psfDesktop->Release();
if (hr != NOERROR)
return;
bool retval=SHGetPathFromIDList(pidlShellItem,szLongPath);
LPMALLOC pMalloc = 0;
if (SHGetMalloc(&pMalloc) == NOERROR)
{
pMalloc->Free(pidlShellItem);
pMalloc->Release();
}
if (!retval)
return filename;
strcpy(dest,szLongPath);
}

I heard somewhere that you can use FindFirstFile() to do the conversion.
Maybe it could be quickier.

I'm writing an USB camera-capture program using DirectShow. I've succeeded previewing and writing the captured stream to an AVI file. But the written file is very slow because it isn't compressed. I don't know how to add a compression filter into the capture graph.
Please show me any code about capture program.
|
|
|
|
|
Web-cams generally use compression over the USB connection, but the drivers do the decompression for you. When you send video to another person through Netmeeting (or any other video conferencing program) it compresses the video stream in another format.
As you would like to do something similar yourself, you will need to obtain a pointer to the IFilterGraph or IGraphBuilder interface exposed by the graph doing the capture, then insert and connect the "Infinite Tee Filter" just before the render filter to get a copy of the video stream. Then, connect the "ASF Writer Filter" to the Tee, which will generate the output file for you.
Read through the DirectShow section of the Platform SDK, and look at the sample files. A lot of the code is already there for you to use.

You can look for this info in the registr under HKCR.
This is a two step process.
First get de default value from the key of the desired file extension(\\HKCR\.xls, in my instalation "Exell.Sheet.8",the name asigned to this file type )
Second. Get the default value of \\HKCR\Exell.Sheet.8\Shell\Open\command.
For more detail, look at this link.
