You may have heard that OpenSSH had an exploitable issue with some bad client code (which is actually two CVEs, CVE-2016-0777 and CVE-2016-0778). A follow up post on OpenSSH

AMD is making a stink about SYSmark, a popular benchmarking program that's been around for many years, and one the chip designer says is not reliable. *Gasp*

This post is not a tutorial on C++11 threads, but it uses them as the main threading mechanism to demonstrate its points. It starts with a basic example but then quickly veers off into the specialized area of thread affinities, hardware topologies and performance implications of hyperthreading. Your Wednesday blog fix

After the previous review of Remix OS I received a comment with interested information about Remix OS USB Tool. My small personal research found that Remix OS developers have a zero tolerance for the code licenses and work of other peoples. A cautionary tale?

If elected, presidential candidate Donald Trump plans to make Apple start "building their damn computers and things in this country instead of other countries." And the Trump show continues.

What did he say about Microsoft? Did he mention Visual Studio?!
I hope he makes them fix all the bugs in there.

Well, he's one of yours and last I heard he was ahead in the polls.
I will refrain from analysing this situation.

He gets my vote! Just imagine how expensive Apple will be. Android and Windows take over!

Except that he's talking about slapping a 35% tariff on products of US companies manufactured outside the US - which includes most computers and cell phones. "Rising tax tides float all prices", etc.
So, no victory for Android or Windows.
My long term goal is to live forever. So far, so good...

Every day, we’re starting to hear about startups laying off employees – sizable percentages of them, too. And fortune's wheel continues to turn

Stack fallacy has caused many companies to attempt to capture new markets and fail spectacularly. If your product isn't doing so well right now, maybe you don't want to forward this to Product Management and say, "Hey, just read this interesting article."

Uncle Bob has become the latest well-known developer to speak out against sexism in our industry, particularly when it crosses the line and becomes physical - Clean Coder Blog[^].
Its staggering this even needs to be said. Well done to him and others for speaking out.

Great article. One thing I took from it was that just because you don't notice it doesn't mean it's not a problem. It could be in the business you are in or at your own very workplace.
I've got a hard time taking this in thou. I can't see myself being quite while being subjected to it and I'd like to think I would be vocal about it if I ever was a witness.

Not physical though, here is something which a senior manager (who will remain unnamed) would do:
- He would go around the office, and stop by to talk for more than 20 minutes, at cubes of lady employees. Persons like me were not even glanced at, by him
Obviously, all 'Management Awards' went to them, while our role was just to applaud.
This is another aspect, which is also not addressed much.

Twenty years ago my wife worked with such a pig at a well-known software company as a language translator and was often subject to his harassment. Thankfully, it was nothing physical, all verbal and innuendo. I was so angry about it and wanted her to talk to her supervisors and I wanted to do something about it myself. But she would not do anything and would not let me do anything. She and I were both young and naive. Today, she would not stand for it and today I would ignore her pleas to leave it alone.
Decrease the belief in God, and you increase the numbers of those who wish to play at being God by being “society’s supervisors,” who deny the existence of divine standards, but are very serious about imposing their own standards on society.-Neal A. Maxwell
You must accept 1 of 2 basic premises: Either we are alone in the universe or we are not alone. Either way, the implications are staggering!-Wernher von Braun

Yes, I remember similar things at an old software house I used to work at. I was younger, and less certain of myself to complain. If I witnessed such behaviour now I would talk to the woman involved and offer to act as witness if she wanted to take it further.
It is up to all of us to make it known such behaviour is reprehensible and will not stand.
