Do not read e books/books while driving or you can also have same effect

Twilight Zone reference, aside, I offer you and your loyal readers the following thought:
When these types of studies are done, does anyone ever deconvoluted the data for the fact that the lifestyle difference of readers vs. non-readers may account for it all and the reading is merely an incidental artifact?
I guess that might screw up the chances of another research grant.

yes good point ... probably the "whole package" counts in advantage of the "reader types" of people, and reading would indeed not be a cure for smoking

Maybe that could be meant by Quote: After adjusting for factors like education, income, and health, the data revealed [...] in the article?

Kind of funny - isn't it - that they adjust for 'health' ?
The effect (or more properly describe, some effect) on health is what they were looking for.

Correlation

Unusually in such a report, I was pleased to see the following:
Plus, CBS points out, people who read books tend to be healthier, richer, and better educated in general, which might lead to a longer life.

The founder of AdDuplex - the company behind 'AppRaisin' for Windows 10 - has called out Microsoft on its mobile strategy alongside the announcement it has ceased active development on its popular software. Strategy? Not even tactics.

To get this straight, the Microsoft phone tanked and someone is griping.... I get lost there. It's hard for any company to have a strategy in a market segment where they have effectively zero market share.

Microsoft is doing its part protecting its users from hackers, but it can’t do everything on its own. I blame update fatigue

Computers were going to save us from bureaucracy, right? Right? Hello!
I'm sorry, I can't hear you right now or process your account because my computer is updating.
Maybe tomorrow.

And Microsoft switching to "only" monthly updates was supposed to save a lot of pain as well.

Yes, of course. Now it is only monthly that I have to go and reset all the settings I had set before the upgrade came along and set them back to other settings.
Seriously, right before this I had to enable (deactivate mousepad -- on my laptop -- when external USB mouse is attached). Every time after an update, something sets it back and I inadvertently move the mouse as I'm typing.
Oh, microsoft, I know you know best.

A flaw in the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) used by Linux since late 2012 poses a serious threat to internet users, whether or not they use Linux directly. I'm too lazy to go look up that "More eyes make all bugs shallow" quote again

But now Microsoft is jumpstarting its Windows 10 Mobile development efforts and it still plans to ship a “final” version of what it’s now calling Windows 10 for Phones sometime later this month. When in doubt: rebrand

At WPC this year, Microsoft announced its new Windows 10 Compatible logo program, which provides logos that ISVs and app developers can use in their marketing activities to showcase the quality of their applications. All you need to do is rewrite your app to run on 20% of Windows machines. And PROFIT!

It seems I need to take an even more pessimistic take on life.
From now on, when I wake up, I'm not going to think to myself "well, at least I'm one day closer to death ", but I'm going to think "F****** F*** ANOTHER G***** DAY IS THIS FORSAKEN STINKHOLE WE CALL LIFE! "
Ah, I can feel my spirits lifting already

When the World Wide Web first took off in the mid 1990s, the dream wasn’t just big, it was distributed: Everyone would have their own home page, everyone would post their thoughts – they weren’t called “blogs” until 1999 – and everyone would own their own data, for there was no one around offering to own it for us. One day, everyone will post their own cat videos!
