Wait. What if the "Manager" brain is tanned like ours. Who is going to rescue us.
The short and precise answer of "How to boost your engineering team mojo" would be
Get ride of that manager, who won't give you input, promotion,...
The best way to make your dreams come true is to wake up.

The best managers I've had never held formal one-on-one meetings. What they did have was a genuine open door policy and a willingness to listen to their engineers rant. They repackaged our rants into management bullshit for those higher in the chain and never hid anything going the other way. They rant interference while we got the job done and weren't obsessed with the minutia of how we did so.

Agreed. I've always felt my best managers were "air cover". As you say: shield those below from the worst of the management, but still let everyone (in both directions) know what's going on.

Oracle announced in a post published last year that they plan to deprecate the Java browser plugin in JDK 9. Since JDK 9 should be coming in July, it’s imperative that developers find an alternative. "Na na na na, hey hey, goodbye"

This will make a huge...
Actually, it will be a minor improvement, but only indirectly, so it's absolutely well worth all the noise and kerfuffle that's going to ensue, after the announcement.

Current law on the US government's legal right to reach into the world's servers is vague at best. To be safe, store all your data on Europa

Russia and China "reach into the world's servers"... so why not the US too?

..so, if the Russians have a similar law, wouldn't that make hacking 'legal' from their point of view?

There's a difference between what the US is trying to do, get a court order to compel a company to hand over data from an overseas location (where doing so without a local court order is illegal); and the hacking the Russia's accused of doing.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Two different cases. As I understand it, the Microsoft case concerns a foreign national whose data is stored on a server outside the US. The Google case concerns a US citizen whose data is stored outside the US. Seems to me that avoiding a subpoena by transferring electronic data to another jurisdiction is highly questionable.
I suspect that both decisions will be upheld.

Fair enough, and that definitely explains the two decisions.
Me, I'm still storing my data on Europa. Or a replica (Canada ) whenever possible.
