It’s good to keep Windows up to date, as it ensures you’re safe from the latest security threats, and you might benefit from other improvements. However, you shouldn’t always blindly install every patch that comes along. Maybe now you really, really want to upgrade?

Still too modern. It has Windows Update, too. I would try Windows 95 or NT 4.0 if you need that NT kernel .

Scientists have trained a quantum computer to recognize trees. That may not seem like a big deal, but the result means that researchers are a step closer to using such computers for complicated machine learning problems like pattern recognition and computer vision. Still misses seeing forest

First thing I thought of when reading that caption.
So I'll go with the second thought: but does the quantum computer hear it fall?

In a quantum forest it would.

Microsoft made a lot of changes in Windows 10 that helped it put the mistakes of Windows 8 in the rear view mirror. I wonder if they make AdBlock for Windows?

But all the worst bits of winio will eventually be insinuated into weven, as part of "security updates".
The medium-term future is "write programs for windows on non-windows machines".

That's probably where all their best developers have gone.

I don't know wether it's developers' fault or management's. A single component failure is usually a sign of poor developer work (which may or may not be related to poor developer skills) but a complete product's quality depends heavily on management, and I think that is of unacceptable quality - starting from its head.

IIRC in one update MS blocked editing of hosts. I may be wrong, though.

So basically the management at Microsoft gets together, throws a few chairs around, screams at their employees, and yells "people hate us!" So what can we do to make them TOTALLY LOATHE US?
Pathetic. Absolutely disgraceful.
|
|
|
|

Additional: what I mean by pathetic is that Microsoft COULD have the greatest thing in the world, Windows 10 could be the best OS ever. But they choose to deliberately screw it up and piss off their customers. They do it on purpose. The spyware, the ads... That's what's pathetic. Greedy managers who are out of touch with reality.
I've been a huge fanboy of Microsoft since the early 1980's, and they never pass up an opportunity to kick me in the face.
I'm done.
