I'm really disappointed , but I would say that I expected it.
I tried another solution: extend the nested TABLE to all the row, moving the outer columns inside it. But I found it difficult to set the right column's width for all the columns.
It's not that easy... I have to remember this if they ask me to web-design something

Sounds like you are pretty much at the point I got to.
There is an extremely simple, neat and efficient way of fixing it. Just can't think of it at the moment.

Hi Chris,
It seems like you've fixed it... or, at least, I see John's posts are ok now (see http://www.codeproject.com/lounge.asp?forumid=1159&select=71904#xx71904xx)
If that works on IE6 too, how did you do that?
I looked at the source HTML, but didn't notice any change.
Interestingly enough, if I load the page in FrontPage 2000 it doesn't show correctly in the embedded preview window.
Please explain this little mystery
Cheers,
Paolo

Andrew Peace was playing around and nailed it for IE (only). Just rearranged the table formatting and removed an embedded table. IE is the only browser that treats cell widths correctly (or at least, intuitively) Opera and Netscape make a mess of it, so they use the old HTML formatting.

Hi,
VC++ forum is very hot and question post last night becomes 3 or 4 pages away tonight.
How about dividing that forum into 2 or 3, categorizing MFC, Win32... I don't have good idea for that. Do you guys have some nice one?
I love Code Project, do you?

Ya certainly nice one.
I am also thinking about that...

Although this is a problem, I think you'll find the vast bulk of the questions are MFC questions, so it won't help. I know I am not the only one who every morning goes through from the top answering questions until they recognise one, and by the time I get up most of the questions have been asked and answered. I really only see it as a problem for anonymous posters, because they don't get an email reply. My opinion of anonymous posters is fairly well known, I would have thought.
I admit it would be nicer to split them, but the thing is, it wouldn't really help much. A COM section might, assuming we do not have one, but a Win32 or WTL one would be pretty dead, I think.

Is it possible to have a link to the Visual C++ FAQ at the top of the Visual C++ Forum?

Two words: kill file.
That way I won't have to see certain threads and certain users' posts. *coughlinuxzealotscough*

Heh Yeah, the show started airing as a summer replacement about 2-3 months ago, but it caught on and it will be airing twice a week during the regular season.
And c'mon, Anne Robinson is hot.

Maybe, but the 50ish woman doing the show in Australia is far from hot.

Chris, I heard that programmers always count from zero instead of one. Why not including 0 as a score for rating articles on this site? This is probably more important than the gun control discussion.

I think you already know that:
- multiple authors don't get notified of message boards' new threads
- there's not a way to see which articles one have in common with another
I suppose this has to do with the database structure, but I just wonder if it would be too hard to fix that. It would be really nice

Multiple authors should get notified - I;ll take a peek and see what the problem is. As to fixing up the entire system properly, that is way up their on the priority list. I've been doing some behind-the-doors negotiating using copious amounts of as bribes and I'm hoping this will solve a whole bunch of issues.

This function do not work, why...
CSpecialControl is derived from CWnd
BOOL CSpecialControl::Create(const RECT& rect, CWnd* pParentWnd, UINT nID, CCreateContext* pContext)
{
BOOL Oktemp;
//after this line hbm is null, IDB_BITMAP1 is a valid resource...
HBITMAP hbm = ::LoadBitmap(NULL,MAKEINTRESOURCE(IDB_BITMAP1));
//this work
CBitmap MyBitmap;
MyBitmap.LoadBitmap( IDB_BITMAP1);
//this work
Oktemp = CWnd::Create
(NULL,_T(""),WS_CHILD|WS_CLIPCHILDREN, rect, pParentWnd, nID ,pContext);
//this work, I can see the button and catch his command
Oktemp &= m_cBouton_1.Create
(_T(""),WS_CHILD |BS_PUSHBUTTON|BS_BITMAP|WS_VISIBLE ,CRect(0,0,16,16),pParentWnd,IDC_BUTTONGAUCHE);
//and the bitmap is never displayed on the button....
m_cBouton_1.SetBitmap(MyBitmap);
m_cBouton_1.ShowWindow(SW_SHOWNORMAL);
return Oktemp;
}

I guess you want a skinned button.
I found a source code here in "CodeProject".
It's a class derived from CButton that make create the button from resource bitmaps.
I'll bet if you search in the CodeProject for "skin button" or "skin CButton", you'll find it.
if not, email me and I'll send you by mail the source code.

Maybe a new section should be added to deal with questions about installation issues. The topic seems to come up often.

Attracted to the instantaneous display of selected messages, I was quite disappointed to discover that the "use DHTML" view option is not implemented in the archive distribution.
Are the archives out of date, or does someone have a fix for this?
