Looks like you've wrapped the last code block and the following text in an <h1> tag.
"These people looked deep within my soul and assigned me a number based on the order in which I joined."

Thanks, I saw that (in no edit mode) and checked in edit mode and do not see a h1 tag. And also I did not enter one intentionally.

Sorry to disturb, but what means "I switched off the markdown setting for you"? Is this related to Profile or what?
Thank you in advance

When you post a message, there's a set of four checkboxes under the preview.
The fourth one is "Use Markdown formatting". This option has caused Chris to tear his hair out and curse the developer who decided to introduce it since about five minutes after Chris decided to introduce it.
Next to that option is a link to the Markdown formatting tips[^] page. Based on that, it looks like you might have had a "#" at the start of a line, which signifies a heading in Markdown.
Either that, or it's yet another Markdown bug to add to the list.

Thank you very much for your Explanation
It sounds similar to the ".ini" Settings of one our legacy applications, which is -still in production- but meanwhile hard to control, because THIS influence THAT and THAT depends on THIS
Business like usual.

Ok, now I recognize it finally, still my comment above stays valid

Yes, you can switch it off in your profile, that will affect all your posts. But you can still switch it on for concrete posts using that checkbox in the message board

Possibly related to Bugs and Suggestions - Trouble with pre tags[^]
Tried to put some bold within pre-tags on this answer Getting an error! ! ! ! ![^] but got
[_b_] displayed at the beginning of the line instead of the emboldening (where _ is actually a double-underline. Same thing happened with italics and when I used the menu-item for bold instead of hand-typing it.

Items that need attention:
The name you supplied has already been registered. If you already have a CodeProject account using this name then please sign in (or you can retrieve your password).
This page allows you to modify your current profile. The name I supplied is the name (and the only name) I am already using and have used for many years. Every time I try and update my profile I get this. Can someone explain what I am doing wrong ... or fix the bug, please?

I have no idea where that came from... except Chris merged two profiles for me many years ago when another one appeared for no apparent reason.
How can I get rid of the "Member 10654250" one?

Yes, I logged back into it and changed the email and display name and id. This allowed me at least to get my name back to my preferred one. I don't know why it hadn't gone away but it turned out to be convenient for this purpose anyway.

I shall wait a day before checking it has really gone and/or trying to close it again. In the meantime I have my name back on the proper account.

About the delete...
OG's answer I copied and use from time to time:
