Looking forward to installing SQL Server on Ubuntu, but for the moment there's only a 175-day trial-version. Usually using MonoDevelop, but recently installed Visual Studio Code[^].

I need a "it could happen, you never know" option.
If you think 'goto' is evil, try writing an Assembly program without JMP.

...but we prepare our code to move to .NET Core and able to run on Linux/Mac too...
Skipper: We'll fix it.
Alex: Fix it? How you gonna fix this?
Skipper: Grit, spit and a whole lotta duct tape.

"I would like to be able to" would have been the option I'd have selected.

Xamarin is .net. Xamarin runs on Android. Android is based on Linux.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

..but finding a database that can run on Windows, MacOS and Linux and that I'm happy to use in production is a challenge.
What do the Java guys use? [Edit: Please don't say Oracle! ]
Now is it bad enough that you let somebody else kick your butts without you trying to do it to each other? Now if we're all talking about the same man, and I think we are... it appears he's got a rather growing collection of our bikes.

I've used it with Xamarin apps.. is it suitable for production web app use?

I would think so, it's extremely stable.
I use it on a production windows app. I also plan on using it on a NodeJS web app that may or may not go into production.

Cheers.. it's probably worthwhile even if it's just used locally for development. It'll be interesting to hear how it goes with your Node.js app..

Thanks!
Did a proof of concept a while back and wrote a couple IoT articles documenting it but I want to carry it further and instead on MongoDB use SQLite and AngularJS for the back end.
We'll see; where I'm at I have good internet but not as much time, where I'm going in a few months I have more time but crappy internet, so not sure how it will play out.

Interesting, I'll have to take a look.. The problem (so far) has been running SQL Server on anything but a Windows box. Hopefully with the latest version of SQL Server that'll start to change.
EF.Core support for a lot of (most) database engines isn't great at the moment either.

SQLite is single user, so for website, I would think that it would be suitable in a very limited capacity.
