I know I've posted about this before, but as I learn more I'm hopeful that my question will become more refined. Bear with me...

When I registered a domain name through Register.com, they set up a SOA record on their nameservers as part of the deal. I later installed Win2K Server here at home, used Active Directory, and since that requires DNS, allowed it to set up the DNS Server for me. This created a bunch of records for DNS as well as a Default-First-Site-Name section in Active Directory. The defaults are not working well, resulting in a constant flow of errors in the System Log, which fills entirely every two days with Error 5774s. None of the articles in the Knowledge Base comes close to resolving the problem, and a few have actually made it worse.

In the DNS console I find that a SOA record was automatically created, and I know that only one SOA should exist for a domain. Would it be safe to delete the local SOA record and let Register.com handle it, or should I remove the remote record and let mine be primary? What else am I missing here? I do have a local network that I want to have the local DNS service handle, so I don't want to remove it completely... Any suggestions?
