There is a slight difference, though: my machines won't just update on microsoft's the hackers' command, and then stop working properly; I have to actively tell them to update and stop working properly.
I wonder if its better to do that now or later. Ms' current standards dictate that machines and programs should not work efficiently or well, and I do like to maintain standards, so sooner is probably better.

Hmm.
Another one of those sites with a 900,000-word explanation of what data they slurp, but that does not give an opt-out.
Actually, that's not strictly true. You can opt out if you create an account with them.
The full process for opting out (after having created an account)?
Delete the account.

I recently figured out how to get images (such as wall papers) without actually going to a site and clicking buttons to download. In google (and using FireFox), right click the image, and select "View image info" in the menu. You'll get a dialog box that lists all of the images on the download site page, with your image selected. Simply copy the url and paste it into the address bar in your browser, and then right click to save the image.

I feel it's my duty to note web-sites that try perverse or sneaky ways to get around obeying European privacy laws (and I then 0.0.0.0 them in my .hosts file).
You should be happy that those laws were put in place. You might not get the full benefit of them, because of where you are, but some of it filters through, as it makes the worst offenders more visible (and reviled).

So your argument is with medium.com, not the article per se??
ok.
Their privacy policy is 11 pages or about 3000 words, give or take. Medium Privacy Policy – Medium Policy – Medium[^]
Seems more digestible than "900,000" words as you claimed.

It links through to several other pages, none of which provide a suitable method for maintaining one's privacy, as required by European law.
Another stipulation of the law is that privacy policies must be explicit, simple, and in plain language. They have clearly, and intentionally, subverted that.
Strange how you care about my understandable PoV-exaggeration of the number of words in their deceptive documents, but don't seem to care that they are taking you for a ride and playing you for a mug.

Dude, you assume way too much. I'm just trying to understand where you're coming from. It wasn't and isn't still clear to me. I was confused as to why you replied the way you did, and I'm still kinda confused now. Ok, I get using hyperbole to try to make a point. Sorry, but I just don't see it.
I get wanting to have privacy and all, I just don't see what medium is doing to violate yours or mine. Are you saying because medium has links to other sites that are less-than-compliant (in your view) that makes medium less-than-compliant? That seems like an odd requirement and doubtful the law does or could require such.
Also, it seems to be a misplaced complaint in context of the OP, which is what is also confusing.
Anyway, have a great day. Sorry to have caused you distress.

How smart is the form of artificial intelligence known as deep learning computer networks, and how closely do these machines mimic the human brain? They have improved greatly in recent years, but still have a long way to go, according to a team of cognitive psychologists. "Ceci n'est pas une pipe."

From the machine's perspective:- A teapot is a bunch of pixels
- A golf ball is a bunch of pixels
- A picture is a bunch of pixels
- a pixel is a few ones and zeroes
An AI doesn't "tell things apart"; it just reads in ones and zeroes, processes stuff, and outputs ones and zeroes as a result of the process.
"Journalists" really need to stop thinking that AIs are thinking, because they're not.

From the machine's humans perspective: (visually)
A teapot is a bunch of stimulations of photoreceptor cells
A golf ball is a bunch of stimulations of photoreceptor cells
A picture is a bunch of stimulations of photoreceptor cells
stimulations of photoreceptor cells are turned to electrical and chemical signals
Humans don't "tell things apart"; they just read in sensory stimulations, processes stuff, and output blurbs as a result of the process.
