My heart breaks every time I see game developers walking our of their offices, their bodies so battered they have a hard time getting into their cars and driving their condos where they struggle to move the mice on their gaming rigs.

I agree entirely with Joe. When I send details of people I need to HR, I never, ever demand degrees, because I know that a lot of the best people I've worked with never got one, but HR always adds the requirement to the job spec.
I have to pound the fact that I want to see people with skills, not degrees, into the tiny brains of almost every HR department I work with.
So no snark from me, either.

Five+ years of experience is often accepted as an alternative to the degree requirement.
For instance, I don't have a degree, but I have 40 years of dev experience.

As long as you don't get screened out by knee-jerk robots in HR, that's fine.
If I found that the CV of someone of your abilities had not been passed on to me, I'd blow a fuse.
