The CP CSS seems to be overriding <pre> such that blank lines are not being left in code snippets. Makes for really ugly and difficult-to-read code when trying to illustrate the code required for a given task.
This is a test
There should be 2 blank lines after this line
There should be 2 blank lines before this line

It's done that for as long as i can remember... just throw an extra space at the beginning of the blank lines:
This is a test
There should be 2 blank lines after this line
There should be 2 blank lines before this line

That's easy enough when it's a few lines, but when you're copying and pasting a long function, it's too tedious to worry with each time. Especially, when fixing "overridden" PRE tag would do the trick.

Hi
I want a develop and host a website on my company's server. I Want to use Microsoft tools. Please advice me on following:
1. The softwares required.
2. The hardware required.
3. Licensing issues. Issues like Licensisng Per user, per processor. Would I be able to use the same license if I upgrade my hardware etc.
4. Costing
5. Infrastructure
I already have experience using MS SQL Server, Visual Studio.NET (VB.NET), Windows 2000, IIS 6.
Are there any practical alternatives to above technology combination?
Please advise. Thanks

First I want to say that the new search is great! I love being able to search multiple boards and specify phrases! Thanks Chris! I have been experiencing some trouble with it though. After I do a search and am browsing through the results, I click on a result and start reading thread. The search hit post is fine, but if I click on any other posts in the thread, the page refreshes and I am at the first page of the message board, where the latest posts are. I also found that if, from there, I go forward to the post I was viewing, that the message I had clicked on is expanded. Anyone else notice this? Thanks!

Am I missing something, or is there no way to search the articles by section? It's so annoying to sort through piles of ASP, C#, and whatever else code, when all I want to view are those topics dealing with MFC/C++.

Sorry to disturb you Chris but how should I do a search say if I were to search for an article on C++? Cause you mentioned just now it has been added.
Thank you.

Anthony

The new wizard does automatic things when swithing to HTML code. THe most annoying is to add stuff in the code. For example it addes href="" to <a> tags. This is good in most situation but if you try to make anchors, you don't want that!

Yeah - the HTML control does a *lot* of stuff I wish it wouldn't do. I'll see if I can update the auto-remove-Microsoft-crap filters in the script that drives the edit control.

Hey
Several other forumsoftware (the famous vBulletin for one) have the option to abuse-report posts. CPs forums only have the option to rate posts. An abuse-reporting function would be rather nifty, so that we can throw out trolls like these http://www.codeproject.com/script/comments/all_comments.asp?mode=all&userid=471512[^] more quickly.
I don't remember, but I belive, that there also is no new member filtering. IE, you can sign up with a fake adress as long as you remember your password. Having to authorize via a URL sent out in an email to the entered adress would filter out a lot of these trolls. It would also, however, slow down the process of registering if you're a legitimate person. :/

How about an option for allowing a poster or suitable person (eg, an editor or admin?) to move posts/threads between forums?
That way if someone posts a programming question to the Lounge, the poster or suitable person can shift it (and any added replies) without the need for rating as 1 or having complaints about it.
This could also send an email to the poster indicating this had happened.
Might cause problems for anonymous posters though, if their posting moves and there's no way to notify them.

The page that redirects to the main CP index.asp page? Which looks normal to me? Or are you referring to the picture of ?

No, actually, when I hit that link, it sent me to a page with the following:
#include <stdio.h>
tempo()
{
int long t;
for (t=0;t<1200000;t++);
}
main()
{
int BUG,c;
BUG=1;
while (BUG==1)
{
for (c=1;c<25;c++)
{
printf ("\nHey Admin");
tempo();
}
for (c=1;c<25;c++)
{
printf ("\nHey Admin Web Pirates Dominated");
tempo();
}
for (c=2;c<25;c++)
{
printf ("\nHey Admin Web Pirates Dominated your domain");
tempo();
}
}
