A survey of 415 IT executives published today shows IT teams are struggling to keep up as the number of platforms that need to be managed continues to expand rapidly. This survey brought to you by the letters 'Duh'

The problem is that anyone under thirty didn't have the KISS principle pounded into their skulls.
Just one person of 29-or-younger is all it needs to make an IT project five times more challenging.

Mark_Wallace wrote: Just one person of 29-or-younger is all it needs to make an IT project five times more challenging. I must say... that not all youngsters are that bad and not all elder are that good.
I know / have trained younger people than me and I had the whole spectrum. From people that didn't know how to do things but willing to learn and with working brains (a.k.a. they just needed some guidance until they get a bit of experience) up to zombie idiots that were more a dead weight than any help.
Same in the other way... elder workers that taught me a lot and other ones that were like a zero on the left side and the only thing you could learn from them was how NOT to do anything (what actually is something useful)
In my experience, the worst ones are the ones that being a bit (or very) skilled refuse to talk to / to hear other co-workers because they think they are the best / most intelligent. And even being it (really good), if they are solo players / arrogant assh..., they can still end causing more problems than solving them.

For me, it's the ones who know a little, and assume that it's how everything should be done, so are not interested in learning better ways.

Userware, on a years-long quest to bring back developer favorite Silverlight, announced an open source implementation of Microsoft's long-deprecated framework for writing rich internet applications, this one based on WebAssembly. "Don't go breaking my heart"

I liked silverlight MUCH more than ASP.NET...
I'll be watching this pretty closely.

I went to download it, and they wanted to collect personal info, so I decided not to. Too bad.

Recently I discovered some computer code I’d written will outlive me — for many centuries. A copy of it has been stored in a chilly cave in the Arctic Circle. "Do you know the Klingon proverb that tells us revenge is a dish that is best served cold?"

Back in the old days, Windows 95 shipped with PowerToys, which allowed users to resize multiple images. And the PowerToys' Image Resizer feature appears to be making a comeback on Windows 10 later this year. Do you feel the excitement?
|
|
|
|
|
Wow!
So they've finally re-added the power toy that absolutely no-one in the entire world ever used!
And they've added a fourth way to search for stuff on windows computers, in yet another attempt to compensate for the fact that they've f***ed the UI so badly that no-one can find a damned thing!
Truly, windows users are blessed, this year.
