Hi,
I have a .htm file which has a jpeg bitmap displayed in it, using the tag.
Since my jpeg file keeps changing after some few seconds, i keep refreshing my htm page. This results in flickering when the image is loaded again.
Any solutions?
peenu.

Yes, don't use a JPEG. Rather use an animated GIF if the image is small or use Flash for larger animations.
If that is not helpful then please explain what you are trying to achieve and we can help more

I presume this is JScript running on the client and not ASP written in JScript on the server?
If the client makes a Server.createobject call, the object is presumed to be on the client.
Is this ATL object on the client-side?
Cheers,
Simon

Do you know how i can make a plugin for internet explorer or at least give me some resources or docs. I can't find any good reference for the internet explorer API. I think i need to learn some more about COM or ActiveX but I'm not sure what. I need to know how to make a plugin for IE so I can browse a remote filesystem through an ActiveSync connection.
thanx.

Hi Guys,
What i'm not sure is that if i want to have a personal page for every member signed up under via my website. for example if my web site is www.abc.com and one fine day a new member join, and then my web site should take that member to his own personal web site for example at www.abc.com/new_member. so how can i do this ? do i have to create a virtual directory for each member joins ? and how can i take show each members name on all the pages coming from the members page i mean from www.abc.com/new_member, and when the member click a link from this page say he/she clicked on Shopping Cart, then on the www.abc.com/shoppingcart.aspx, there should be showed the name of the members from where the link was cicked ? should i use session for this ? please advise, any help would be good ? by the way will only using ASP.NET nad SQL Server would be sufficient to develop a web application with good performance ? just a wild question ? anyway pls. help me on the first 2 issues...

I think a good approach would be to use sessions. When a user logs in, you can create a new session for this user, and this will be valid till he logs out. Creating virtual folders for every user is not recommended, unless otherwise, you are going for web-hosting. A better way would be to store his information in your datbase, and use some templates or XSLTs to generate the page dynamically.

Hello all
I've an .asp page on the server which responds with a html page whenever anybody posts data to it. I'm posting data from a IFRAME. The html page that .asp page on server gives in reponse contains code to modify the parent window's variables. This html page is trying to modify the parent window's vairables on load.
The problem is whenever I'm posting data when the asp page gives the html page in reponse I'm getting "Permission denied " ERROR and it's not modifying the parent window's variable as I desired. I'm using IIS and javascript.
Can anybody help me in resolving the error?
Many thanks for your help.
Hari.

The parent windows variables can only be modified by another page which is thrown from the same server. Ensure this as to whether the iframe and parent frame are loaded from the same server( need to not be the same URL ).

Hi!
I have a problem of displaying the image backgound of a table and I would like to ask for help from you.
In my case, I need to use one GIF or JPG as backgound of a table but the table must be in specific size, the picture sometime bigger than this size of the table and the result is that the picture is not always reveal all of it's body in the table.
I don't know if any way to set the size of the image backgound of the table. Please help!
Thanks for you attention!

Hi theJazzyBrain!
If I can directly make change to the image then it's not a problem. In my case, I need to take the pictures from the server and show them in the web page and it's one kind of selling product website which get the pictures of the good from the server so I can not do the taskof making change directly to the pic

I see,
but why do you want to set it as a background image then?
If you use the IMG tag then you can set the width and height attributes accordingly.

Hi theJazzyBrain!
Please look at http://www.venturi.be/trevi/F/showlist_framework.asp?Type=1&goal=0
so see why do I need to use it's as backgrouns
In this list, you will see sometimes a property which marked "VENDU" is mean this property is sold. To marked this property as sold, because I don't have right to modify the pictures directly (write some mark to the picture itself) so I use another transparent GIF as a mark and the picture of the property is set as background so you always see the mark lay over the picture of the property. This is a "Why".
And this is a "How". Because the pisture of the property is not always at the sme size so sometimes you can see only part of the picture not the full picture, the one which the price is 272.000 EURO at the row 3, column 2 is an exmaple only part of the picture is reveal. If these is a way to set the size of the background, I think I can solve this problem.
Do you have any idea?

Use DIV tags. I think that can solve the problem. You can place an image in a div tag, and then position the same anywhere on your page.

Is it possible to get IE to read cookies set by a non-IE browser?
I wouldn't have thought so but this is a bit out of my area of expertise so I thought i'd ask.

That should be possible...
Messengers like Yahoo, and MSN are setting cookies, which are read by IE.

you might be able to compare the referrer to the window.history object.

I've got an CGI script running an admin page. On that page there a certain links calling the script again. These are currently like this:
<a href="script.pl?Function=DoIt&Entry=123&Name=Value">Link</a>
When the page comes back the address contains the full Query String (Function=.....). This is fine, except that when somebody clicks Refresh on the browser, it will perform that function again. No Good.
So is there a way to clear the Query String from the address when I reload the page? Is there a way to link using the POST method? Or would I have to create a form for each of these links?

You could have the link return a redirect to a page that is refresh-safe.

Yeah, I guess could redirect to call itself with display parameters instead.
