I have developed an ActiveXObject (dll) which gets loaded in IE with javascript using:
oMyObject = new ActiveXObject( "myDLL" );
The problem is that I need to be able to unload that dll so that I can replace (overwrite) it during a web update.
I have tried deleting oMyObject and setting oMyObject=null but neither seem to work.
The only thing that seems to work is quitting IE which I really don't want to do.
There has to be a way to force IE to let go of the dll.
Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Pace

I manage 23 severs all located in different cities in Australia...(big distances) I trying to get a page on my intranet to show the status of these servers. Like a mirror status ie (http://www.gamecopyworld.com)..
If the server is off line it calls an icon (offline) so on and so forth.... It also would have to be able to show the speed of the connection...
I'm totally stumped. I've asked a few friends who say they are coders but to no eval....
Looking forward to anyone with some ideas..
Using NT4 IIS4

Maybe you could do an XMLHTTP grab of a page on each of the remote servers. If the server is offline, you'll get a no-response error and will know to use an offline icon.

That would be great if I knew how to.

Here's some info on XMLHTTP that you could adapt to your needs:

I found this, which I can sort of relate to a little better...
http://www.codeproject.com/internet/amhttputils.asp?target=%22server+status%22&df=100&forumid=2575&select=626806
Still not really what I'm after... But what can you do..

When i make a table and then try to have text or a picture beside the table it wont let me. Even if I set the table width to 20% and then center the image it will center the image, but under the table. =/ i am semi-new to html so if someone out there knows what im askin..please help! thanks!

That's because tables are block-displayed objects. What that means is, by default, html likes to ensure that they are the only object on the line that they occupy. Two solutions are:
1) In your table code, add the following:
2) Use a second table, with one row and two columns. In the first cell, put your table, and in the second cell, put your image.
Hoppe this helps!

well.. the first option seemed to work, the image showed up right beside the table, but when i centered the image it dropped down under the table and centered? i will go on and try the second option, but i would like to be able to keep the picture out of a table. thanks though for the help! =)

|
|
|

any other tips? or reasons why i cant center it beside the table? ..if someone has any example code with a table on the left of the page with multiple rows and then an image centered directly beside the table i would greatly appreciate it! or just anything to help me out =) thanks!

Ok, im using foobar to listen to music, and i'm outputting my currently playing title into a file (shtml, html, txt, whatever i want).
I've got this on my desktop (http://desktop.thekeegster.com/nowplaying.shtml) and i'd like to get that on my server. THe 2 computers are on the same network.
Now, i've tried using php includes, but those gimme errors. I'd really rather not have to use an iframe, because i want it to fit in a little section of my site, and the size of the titles vary, so i can't know the exact size of the frame.
is there some way to get just the text from one website into another without using frames?

Maybe you could try an XMLHTTP grab? i.e. use some JavaScript to grab the contents of the file, strip away whatever's outside the body tag and insert the resultant text into the area on your page where you want it.

Hello,
I'm programming in a little enterprise, and also I maintain it's web page.
Today I've noticed that one of the links is not working properly: the link points to the right file (IM SURE, REALLY SURE) and when I click that link, it only appears a blank web page with the name of the right file.
I've called my ISP and they told me that it is a programming question and that they doesn't support it.
Well, I've deleted all my cookies and all my temporary files and even in this way, it still show me the blank page.
ADDITIONAL NOTE:
I have my web page translated to some languages.
As I have not had enough time to translate it to italian, portuguese and german, I had copied the same files that in english in order to have the same directory structure. The funniest thing is that if I copy the italian folder (in which the same link works OK) inside the english folder, with the same file names and so on, the problem still happens...
if you want to test it, go to:
http://www.tamelectromecanica.com/angles/nivell2-lesnostresm-re5cp-0001.htm[^]
(this is the one that doesn't work)
http://www.tamelectromecanica.com/italia/nivell2-lesnostresm-re5cp-0001.htm[^]
(this is the one that works)
PS:
the normal way to access the page that don't work would be:
1. www.tamelectromecanica.com
2. OUR MACHINES
3. TAM RE 5CP (the english version is the one that doesn't work)
thank you in advance...

Well, both of the links that you provided work fine...

Solved... I have only to press Ctrl+F5 in order to reload the page, it seems that if I press only F5 the page is not trully reloaded...

Both links work nicely, though I have no idea what mopes are. Could that have been meant to be mops?

well... I also have no idea what mopes are... I'll check it and change it as fast as I can... thank you...
and returning to the main problem, I can't understand why in two computers in my enterprise I can't see the english link...

Yes, F5 only reloads the page from the local cache, and only fetches a fresh copy if the local copy has expired. Ctrl-F5 overrides that behavior and forces a fresh copy to be requested.

I have a page with a form in ASP. On the page a have a select box, when the user selects an option, the form is posted and the corresponding data is loaded into a new select box. This I have no problem with. What I do have a problem with is when the user clicks on the submit button to add the data to the database. Form validation must first take place. I do not know how to go about that form validation only occurs when the user clicks the sumbit button. The form is posted in one of 2 ways, either by selecting an option in the select box, or when clicking the submit button. It might sound confusing now, but send me a mail at brcvogt@yahoo.com then I can explain more and send you my sample code. I need this to be done ASAP as it is part of my college project.
