new link for all logged in users under the options settings which would list all articles submitted by the user - something like "My Articles (2)"?
Just a thought....

Collapsable threads so you could look at the threads and if you wanted to read that thread you could expand it so you didn't have to go through tons of pages to find a thread.

You mean something like the 'ThreadView' option currently available?

What hardware is used to make the call?
Most telephony based applications either use a hardware specific API or TAPI. This kind of app tends to be hardware specific, as each PABX/Phone system tends to have its own quirks.
Microsoft Speech SDK has a few similar examples.

It would be a good idea to automatically convert web addresses into hyperlinks which open in a new window.

I like the new Thread listing, but there are a few problems which I'm sure you're probably aware of.
1) If you have a long thread selected, and it extends onto the next page. You have to click to the next page, select the next thread, then go back to the previous page to read the first post. If selection of a new thread would move the first message off the current page, you should move to that page.
2) If there are new messages in a thread, there is no way to tell if the first message is not new. The "new" icon should appear if there are any new messages, not just the first one.
Also, you should add an automatic "signature seperator" to messages so we know what's a sig and what's not. The traditional seperator is two dashes (--).

It would be really cool if people can upload their photo to CP which will be displayed in the user profiles.

But then you'd have the idiots out there uploading pr0n or junk like goatse.cx to their profiles.

Ford: How would you react if I said that I'm not from Guildford after all, but from a small planet somewhere in the vicinity of Betelguese?
Arthur: I don't know. Why, do you think it's the sort of thing you're likely to say?

Funny you should mention this - Mike Dunn and I have just been talking about this.
I like the idea but don't want to have to police it.

You can minimize the problem that you and Mike are talking about by:
- Allowing only a fixed format to be uploaded, e.g. 100x100 JPG.
- Putting a link to the photo instead of a thumbnail. That way the viewer will have to explicitly click on the photo, which means that you can put a small disclaimer at the bottom of the page warning of potential explicit content.
- Create an email address (which you should already have) abuse@codeproject.com, which you can display at the bottom of the photo. That way users will be able to report porn/goats immediately.
- Have the feature running for a trial period, and see how it goes. If you notice abuse, remove the feature.
It really sucks that you have to moderate the content on CP. IMO you should let the users report offensive content, and then act upon those reports rather than have to moderate everything. To safegaurd yourselves you should also speak to a lawyer to see what kind of disclaimer texts you should add to avoid lawsuits should someone decide to pick on you.
Its a pity to see functionality decrease because of the few people who abuse (I'm sure that many other ideas/features have been dismissed due to fear of abuse). However, you know best. I'm confident that you know what you're doing.

It might be a good idea to make a sort of mailing list of the forums. Basically each new message posted will be emailed to subscribers, similar to how it is now when someone replies to your message, but for all messages.
Just an idea.

The time and date for the threads are a bit confusing.
How can someone figure out what time of day the posting was done, if they don't know
what timezone the web-server is in??
How about calculating all the time/date to local time/date for the client accessing the pages.
Or adding a line wich states what timezone the server is using, and maybe the current
time on the server?

I'm very new to The Code Project and I must say this is an excellent site! I was going to submit a link to a site that I did not find on here but realized that there is no place to submit just a link. I work with an online group creating a DirectX Game wrapper (no it's not what you think, keep reading) and wanted to submit a link so others can enjoy it as much as I have for the last 5 years. It's called CDX. It's a class wrapper for DX7/3 to make 2D games. There is talk of a 3D library but most of us just want to make "classic" 2D style arcade games Is there a way (other than what I'm doing right now) to submit a link to our site? All source code is provided free of course and I have learned more about DX than any other source from working on CDX. Oh, almost forgot the link, it's http://www.cdxlib.com/ Do enjoy
Programming in binary is as easy as 01 10 11.

Hi Chris,
I found some time to test my proposal to fix the problem, but could only do that on my IE 5.01 - it seems it works though!

This is just a sample taken somewhere: I added HEIGHT="100%" in the nested TABLE, an it happily filled with white the entire row height.

I'm really disappointed , but I would say that I expected it.
I tried another solution: extend the nested TABLE to all the row, moving the outer columns inside it. But I found it difficult to set the right column's width for all the columns.
It's not that easy... I have to remember this if they ask me to web-design something

Sounds like you are pretty much at the point I got to.
