I have created a toolbar using C# . Now i need to deploy it over the web . I need to use the method of deployment using cab files . I created the cab file and signed it using the "signcode" utility in .net
with a test certificate i created using "makecert" .
next when i create a html file and reference the cab file using the codebase attribute as below
<object codebase="filename{CLSID" }="">
The format for the above has been properly maintained . Next when i place the html file as well as the cab file in the same directory in my system and open the html in the browser , a warning message is displayed saying i am not using a properly certified product and if i want to continue with the
installation . ?If i say yes then the status bar waits for some time and then zooms to finish saying done without showing the file copy progress bar and without installaing the product . Where could the fault have occured . Is it a problem with the inf file . Please help me out . What are the necessary precautions i need to take for a successful installation .

Hi,
I'm trying to rewrite this site of mine using CSS instead of tables for tha layout. I'm trying to start off with the top lighter-green header bar. Here is my test site.
And here is some of the CSS in question:
#headerL {
background: #99ff99;
float: left;
padding: 0px;
font-weight: bold;
}
#headerR {
text-align: right;
background: #99ffCC;
margin: 0;
padding: 5px;
font-weight: normal;
}
Does anyone know why the first line in the text example does not align:right in IE5 like it should? I've tried it the opposite way, floating the right-hand side instead, and it will still align the text the wrong way. Either way works fine in Mozilla. Any ideas?

I don't know what you're seeing, but I get a right-aligned header in IE6. There are three lines, all right-aligned: ...foo foo \n Next \n next. Given the source lines:
<a href="http://www.theshroom.com">theshroom.com</a> - Blitzen foo foo <br>Next</br>next
that's exactly what I'd expect to see. A question, though - was it your intent to nest a <DIV> inside a <DIV>?
[EDIT]
Oops - forgot to check the 'Do not treat <'s as HTML tags' checkbox the first time

Hi, I have this method in Javascript that invokes some method on the document object. Problem is, I can't do this until the document object is loaded. Is there anyway that I can check whether the document object is loaded?
The following didn't work:
if(top.applet.document==null)
{
//Do nothing.
}
else
{
top.applet.document.SomeMethod(..);
}
This doesn't work since document object is neither null nor loaded - it's just not properly initialized. Any idea? Thanks!

I dont understand what you are asking...
I know that when the document is loaded the onLoad event is triggered.
This is defined in the body tag as such:
<br />
<BODY onLoad="myJavaScriptFunction();"><br />
Hope this helps

You could put the js code at the bottom of your page.

I am new to website design and I have a question. I see the websites like this one (codeproject.com) that they keep the top, left and bottom navigation bars the same from one page to the other. Almost all of this sites use ASP so I can not see the code because it is executed and I only see the final output. The way that I am doing that at this time is using frames or copying the code for the navigation bars in each page.
Can any one tell me which is the best way (not the easiest way, but the best ) to do this?
SSI / ASP ???

Personally, I use a template HTML page, and read through it in a perl script, then when it finds the
<!-- INSERT PAGE HERE --> line it dumps whatever info belongs on that page out, and resumes with the footer after that.
Might not be the best, but it works for me.

You use include files to do this. <!--#include file="nav.asp"-->
So in your, lets say, default.asp page you will have that line of code where you want the contents of nav.asp to be inserted. You can then use it from multiple pages, one change to nav.asp will affect all the other pages. The include is inserted when the page is requested.

I have a web site with limited space and bandwidth alootment, but I need to have the ability to host files and control access to them.
I need a (PHP?) program that will do the following:
Allow users to upload files:
0) Only authorized users can upload files
1) Files can only be specific names
2) Files can only have specific extentions
3) Files must be able to be size-restricted
4) Uploads must be able to be restricted by frequency of occurance by user (allow a given user to upload every X number of days, or on a given day of the month)
5) When a file has been uploaded, the program updates an existing web page to reflect the files that are now available for download.
Allow users to download files:
0) Only authorized users can download files (be able to toggle this on/off to allow anyone to download).
1) Track which of the files are new since a given user last downloaded it.
2) Specify how many times a day a given user can download a given file.
I'm using phpBB2 for bulletin board software, so it would be very convenient if the program was able to use the database of registered users used by that program.
Can anyone help?

You're hoping for someone to create this program for you?

I'm hoping for guidance as to how to approach it, some code that kinda gets me started, or yes, for someone to make the magnanimous gesture of doing it for me (being the lazy bastard that I am, this is the preferred route ).
I know nothing about php, or any of the other scriptng languages, and while I have a deeply ingrained dislike for learning anything new (I'm pretty old and set in my ways), I will if I have no other choice. However, I see no reason to reinvent any part of that wheel if someone else has already done so.

The following is a link to a free perl script which allows you to upload files with a specific extension and file size.
There are upgrade versions with other features.
With a little noodling in perl, you could probably work in the other features fairly easily.

www.Hotscripts.com[^]
There are literally 1000's of pre-written scripts of all kinds...from KBases to polls to file managment.
However from my experience, pre-written scripts suk and are always buggy and full of security holes...so you should plan on looking over the code and trying to correct flaws PHP is easy enough that almost anybody with basic programming experience can crank out a fairly complex script. Thats where Perl might be a little better.

That you'll probably have to do yourself. Thats another reason I hate pre-written scripts.

I need people to help me create a browser driven opensource Operating system that will be linux based ie I am currently working on the linux kernel as I write this note. I have all of my componants such as file management, drivers, cdrom startup, and the browser base for the kernel. This would take me too long to do myself even though I have all of the componants (I think);P but I will need help tying it all together.
I will soon have a webpage up and running where you can go to find out about the project but just now please email me.

Hi all
I am having a problem with window.open
In a file called pageone.html, I have the following:
<html>
<head>
<script language="javascript">
window.open("pagetwo.html");
</script>
</head>
</html>
pagetwo.html is nothing special - just some text (no javascript at all).
The problem I get is a javascript error - "Access Denied"
pageone.html is accessed by http://localhost/pageone.html
So why the hell is this happening? I can't figure it out at all. I have the correct permissions to the folder.
Thanks in advance,
Anthony

One of our applicatons needs to have more than one window open. It's a bit odd, but necessary. Anyway, turns out that the machine it was failing on had an odd combination of MS patches, and when we updated it fully, it worked properly. Thanks for your help anyway.

You mean ... your posted code worked properly with the patch updates (I assume that was a patch for the IE)
