LOL!!! I have one user who still insists on using IE4.01 because she tried once to upgrade and it broke her computer.

Frankly speaking, I am one of them who update the IE/NS/Antivirus from the free / complementary CDs, just to save my internet time!!

As I mentioned "You can safely ignore it unless you have specific information relevant to your project that says otherwise."
In this case you have specific information that says support it, 30% is definitley high enough.
What is this website? We run about 50 websites and every single one has less than a percentage per month on Netscape 4.x.
Enjoy supporting N4, it's a PITA.

if you are doing a public web site, and you are asked to do a dhtml pull down menu, will you support ns4 and other old browser?
Only your usage logs can tell you if this is a good idea or not.
If a significant percentage of your users are on older browsers, then you need to make sure that they have access to all of your website's functionality.
The ugly truth is that this means either foregoing the nifty coding tricks available for the newer browsers or writing duplicate websites.
Only your server logs can tell you how to proceed.

ok, heres the deal..
im looking for a way to be able to have a script that will receive email from mutiple users (on same domain) and insert the subject/body into an access database for later use in the site.
also, any attachments to the email (pic/vid/snd) would be placed in a directory with the recipient/users name and the location of the file inserted into the database.
any ideas?
all help is welcomed

We are trying to set a propery value in our active control using HTML Object and Param property. But the value doesn't seems to get set. The same control works fine with VB. But when I pass it from a HTML Page, I am not getting the value set.
Can anyone share your ideas or workarounds please ?

We have build a webshop in the framework supplied by the MBS product Axapta.
The framework is initialized and interfaced using an ASP Script, this script will redirect to itself, using extra parameters, when the user logs on.
It seems that Mozilla 4.0 has a bug that makes it unable to handle the 302 reply though, so it starts a request loop that makes the server choke after some time.
This can't possibly be the first time anyone encounters this problem, but I really can't find any information on this.
-- UPDATE;
It seems that i can create the same problem using any browser when cookies are turned off, but Mozilla 4.0 just don't realize it is looping, so unlike any other browsers it just drones on...

Hrm. How do I word this?
I'm using CSS and HTML to format my webpage. Everything looks great until the list item is encountered. The <p> text is all gray/blue (like I want) but when the text gets to the list items is turns the LI items black. Well, considering the background is set to black ... I can't see my list items! Arg.
How can I get CSS to format the listitems in the Unordered List tag to the color I want(#3C81D0)?
CSS:
a:link {color: #7282A9}
a:visited {color: #8E7583}
a:hover {text-decoration: underline;color: #EA8000}
a:active {color: #00FFFF}
p.groove {border-style: groove}
p {text-decoration: none;color:#3C81D0; text-align:left}
body {background-color:white; font-size:medium; color=#3C81D0}
ul{
list-style-type: circle;
font-size:medium;
color=#3C81D0
}
HTML:
<html>
<head>
<link href="text/genpage.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet">
</head>
<p>Hi. Thanks for blah, blah, blah.</p>
<p>My blah's are blueish while my...
<ul type="circle">
<li>listitem 1</li>
<li>listitem 2</li>
<li>listitem 3</li>
<li>listitem 4</li>
<li>listitem 5</li>
<li>listitem 6</li>
<li>listitem's are black!</li>
</ul></p>
<p>Please check back from time to time to see more blah.</p>
</body>
</html>
Thanks.

Hmmm, wouldn't color:#3C81D0; work? there is an "=" sign there that should not be. Or am I wrong? Also change it in the body tag and add ";" at the end.

Thanks! It was the '=' sign.

oh, sorry - add li after the ul or in a separate block
The following work on my IE:
li{
list-style-type: cirle;
font-size:medium;
color:#3C81D0;
}
---OR ---
ul li{
list-style-type: circle;
font-size:medium;
color:#3C81D0;
}

I'll add the style for li. I had it in there at one time but I removed it after trying a dozen different non-functioning techniques.
It was the '=' sign I had in the css.
Thanks for all your help!

I got to upload a file now i am trying to view the files data on the database on a ASP site. How do i do that? Thank you..

A simple SQL SELECT statement would do.
Dim sql
sql = "SELECT the_file_field FROM your_database WHERE some_condition"
' Create a RecordSet Object
Dim rs
set rs = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.RecordSet")
' Retrieve the records
rs.Open sql, Connection, adOpenForwardOnly, adLockOptimistic
'write it
Response.write rs("the_file_field")
Note:
you need to open connection, check EOF, close connection.

Hi,
I created a web service and I have a dataset cached in the Application scope. Now, the Application cache is refreshed everyday and the datasets are set to null and the cache is recreated. I look in the task manager and see the process's memory keeps rising. Is my web service not releasing the memory. Please help.
Thanks,
|
|

I would start by looking if you are calling Dispose on all IDisposable objects. Datasets, for instance, are IDisposable. If you set all references to null, they'll be collected, but this can take a long time to happen. If you forget a single reference, they won't be collected at all.
Another thing I would do is, if you use COM interop, check if you are calling Marshal.ReleaseCOMObject() on all COM references.
If nothing of this helps, use a memory profiler.

Hi,
My friend tried to indtall Commercec server 2000, in his PC. The PC s/ configuration is.. Win 2000 Server with NTFS partition... IE 6 (It has VS .NET instaled it.. that gave me IE 6).
The problem was, he says, he got a message saying that it needs IE 5 or higher version when the PC already has IE 6 in it.
Any solution.... other than downgrading the IE 6???

I don't have a list of all the forbidden characters but here is a regex that I use for email validation: ^[\w-\.]{1,}\@([\da-zA-Z-]{1,}\.){1,}[\da-zA-Z-]{2,3}$
