I have several CControlBar derived bars attached to a CFrameWnd.
It seems the horizontal bars always have stretch priority over the vertical ones (more or less like borderlayout in java).
example: the bottom bar is always stretched from left to right first, so the right bar cannot stretch to the bottom anymore.
But I would like the right bar stretched to the bottom, before the bottom bar is streched.
How can I change this?
using: [VISUAL STUDIO 6.0 sp5] [WIN98/2]

I have been writing software for the Windows environment using Visual Studio .Net (C++).
However as some groups have been using VME PowerPC h/w with VxWorks operating system. Now with the need to re-use software and develop 'common' s/w items between the two platforms. The idear to use a Web Browser to provide the common GUI was suggested.
Could use complier switches to cope with the different platforms, but need to separate out the GUI and make it identical on the platforms.
Question is, can the elements of MFC be replaced by a Browser?
i.e. the Browser communicate with the C++ task (C++ task with no Windows input/output), using TCP/IP?

Dear All,
In Visual C++ 6.0 there used to be this very useful thing called a profiler. In the settings you could enable profiling and when the program was started the profiler spat out all kinds of useful information (what functions were called, how often and how long it took.)
Now I'm using .Net 2003 and I don't really know why... VC++ 6.0 was and still is really good...
My question: Is there a profiler in .net 2003 (I couldn't find it) and if so, how do I enable it?
Best regards,
Jon

Dear Joe,
this was a very valuable tip! Thanks! I downloaded the thing and it seems to work well. It seems to have a lot of features not included in the old VC++ 6.0.
Thanks again,
Best Regards,
Jon

Howto produce a
Vcc (c++, VS 6.0)
Window Application with Knowledge,
Input,Output and control over
the Place where it was started
from i.e. a Console?
|
|
|
|

To my knowledge, an application has no knowledge about how (command prompt, Windows Explorer, Run box) it was started.

Thanks very much.
A very interesting thing would also be
to use the STDOUT of the Console the App was started from.
Also the ability to 'block' this console
(probably a cmd.exe window) from the windows application.
The answers where fast responses
Thanks so far.

The best thing I found currently on
the net releating to my problem but not really
finishing it was found on:
http://codeguru.earthweb.com/console/Console.html
The Question is:
Could I produce not too wicked code
to make the GUI.exe behave
exactly the same as the Console.exe
if it is started from a console-Window?
My Problem from a WinMain or CWinApp object is
the imediate return inside the console Window.
'Similar' Effect for a CWinApp could possibly produced somehow with
HWND hwnd = FindWindow("ConsoleWindowClass", zInstanceName);
if (hwnd)
{
releating to:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;q124103
But how can I be certain that it was my Console that
I possibly find.
And what am I allowed to do on this Console.
Thanks

I want to replace a .exe's icon from ICO fiel use code.change see in Explorer view for the .exe file.

If you are wanting to change the icon that Windows Explorer uses for a given file type, select Folder Options from the Tools menu, click the File Types tab, select the file type, click the Advanced button, click the Change Icon button.
If you are wanting to change an icon resource in the EXE itself, you'll need to use UpdateResource() twice, once to delete the old icon resource and again to add the new icon resource.

While that is a good learning exercise, it's a tad too much, especially when a much simpler solution is available.

Hi
Just a quick, stupid question.. I'm using ShellExecute to open a file via double-click on a list box. What if the file has no association? I can't seem to get the little dialog box that allows you to choose an application to pop up. Any file with an association in the registry will open fine, but I can't open any that don't.
Thanks

Hi
Yes you may.
SHELLEXECUTEINFO sei;
ZeroMemory(&sei, sizeof(SHELLEXECUTEINFO));
sei.cbSize = sizeof (SHELLEXECUTEINFO);
sei.lpVerb = str1;
sei.lpFile = str2;
sei.nShow = SW_SHOW;
sei.hInstApp = NULL;
sei.lpDirectory = NULL;
sei.fMask = SEE_MASK_DOENVSUBST|SEE_MASK_NOCLOSEPROCESS;
sei.lpParameters = NULL;
if (ShellExecuteEx (&sei) )
return sei;
else
return FALSE;
So when you call your function like MyCoolProject::PenutShell(CString str1,CString str2,UINT unvar...load up the params with your mask and other goodies then monitor the sei instance.
LPCTSTR lpOperation,
LPCTSTR lpFile,
LPCTSTR lpParameters,
LPCTSTR lpDirectory,
INT nShowCmd

OK
Remember to start a worker thread before the call and monitor it.
