I believe the API has a function that allows you to capture a window based on co-ordinates. Then, call GetWindowText. I forget what the API function is called tho.

Hi,
i have a problem... RTF has this special control word called \field and i'd like to use Microsoft's RichEdit control and handle this \field myself. But i can't seem to find anyway to make the RichEdit control break out to allow me to handle this control word. Currently the RichEdit control does understand this control word but it doesn't process it, it just gives out whatever fldrslt has. I'd like to use the control to have dynamic text.
currently MS Word uses this \field to do processing of time, author, date saved and so on to dyanmically change text on the word file when it is opened.

Example...
I create a dialog called CMyDialog.
Sometimes when I add it to to the project through the classwizard, it says it cant open the files "MyDialog.h" and "MyDialog.cpp". And other times it will say the the above files already contain remnants of that class.
I cant figure out what the problem is!
Thanks,
Daniel

You're adding classes with the same name over and again. If you remove a class from a project, go in and delete the files also.

Thats not the case. I know for a fact that the files dont exist.

Have you got any Anti-Virus software running, Norton Anti-virus used to cause similar problems with VS6 on one of my machines.
Have you got the latest VS6 service pack 5 installed?

Hello all
I'm programming windows systray and want to put an icon in the sytray which can popup balloon tooltips. I'm using win2000 with visual studio6. The problem is the header file "shellapi.h" which I've seems like it doesn't support balloon tooltips. Here's the NOTIFYICONDATA structure I find in the hearder file
typedef struct _NOTIFYICONDATAA {
DWORD cbSize;
HWND hWnd;
UINT uID;
UINT uFlags;
UINT uCallbackMessage;
HICON hIcon;
CHAR szTip[64];
} NOTIFYICONDATAA, *PNOTIFYICONDATAA;
This structure doesn't have the members like "szInfo" which has to be used to popup balloon tooltip. I refer to microsoft docs where it says version>5 is needed, when I check my shell32.dll version it shows as >5.
Do I need to have new header file? If yes, where can I download from?
Can any one help me?
Many thanks for your help
Hari.

i thought the full duplex project was a voip application and was using it as a reference to build my own voip system, however i have now discovered that it only works over the data link layer and as such is not a voip system. Could you please tell how i could modify it, or how i would be able to implement a system which sends voice traffic over the IP layer using UDP as i have no idea where to start. i probably have to create and bind sockets with datagrams or something like that butim not sure how i would incorporate it into the project.
I would be very grateful for any help.
thanks

Gee, this is a very precise explanation of the problem. What do you mean by 'work well' ?
Bondtje wrote:

ShellExecute. This is surely in the FAQ ?
Bondtje wrote:

Yes, you need to work out what dependancies your project has ( such as MFC ) and ship your program with the DLL's that it is attempting to load.

How would it be possible to send a "Print Screen" keydown message or whatever?
Which message should I send with which params (if possible)
Thanks a lot

You could manually send a WM_KEYDOWN and a WM_KEYUP message, but it's a bit tricky setting up all the flags and what have you.
A better way is to use a function for that specific purpose, keybd_event. Look it up in MSDN. Use it something like keybd_event(VK_PRINTSCREEN, ...);
If you are trying to simulate a printscreen to do a screen capture and put it onto the clipbopard, a better way is to call GetDc(NULL) to get the DC for the desktop, then grab the bitmap out of the DC and slap it on the clipboard.
