Hi,
My question concern ASP.net / HTML even DHTML (?).
I use a asp:DropdownList (databinded to a collection of objects) and set the width to a limited value. The long text is then cut. I'd like to find a way to display, in a popup for example, the entire content of the selected item.
I don't find any proper property concerning this point. Perhaps styles ? or programming DHTML ? Any other solution ?
Thanks,
Laurent.

There is no event (as far as I am aware) that is fired when you hover over an item while the fly-out box is present. An event fires when you select a new item, and during different parts of your click, etc. If you want the item to become visible when you hover over it in the list, you're probably out of luck. If you want to show the full item name once it is selected, that would be pretty easy, you'd just have to use the "onmouseover" event to show a hidden, absolutely-positioned div, which you'd dynamically fill with the content of the currently selected item.

Hi, i am in urgent need of help in creating an asp script. I Will be very
greatful if someone can help me out.
Basically i have the following script that checks the record in the database ,
if it founds one then it dispalys some text on the page. else it inserts a new
record in the database and redirects to the second page.
We are using the following code...
---------------------------------------------------------
sub createNewUserschedule()
Dim strQuery
Dim rsScheduleSpec
Dim rsSchedule
strQuery= " Select * from User_Schedule_info where (UserId=" & UserId & " and
UserScheduleName='" & trim(UserScheduleName) & "')"
Set rsScheduleSpec = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset")
rsScheduleSpec.Open strQuery, cn, 1,1
If rsScheduleSpec.recordCount <= 0 Then
rsScheduleSpec.close
set rsScheduleSpec = nothing
'if already exists alerts the user
Response.Write("<html> <center><big><BR><BR><BR><BR><BR><BR><BR><BR><BR><b> User
Schedule Already Exists</b> </big></center></html>")
else
strQuery = "INSERT INTO USER_SCHEDULE_INFO
(UserId,UserScheduleName,DateCreated,DateModified) Values ( "& UserId & ",'" &
UserScheduleName & "' ,'" & FormatDatem(date()) & "','" & FormatDatem(date())
& "')"
cn.execute strQuery
strQuery="select UserScheduleId from USER_SCHEDULE_INFO where UserId =" &
UserId & " and UserScheduleName='" & UserScheduleName & "'"
set rsSchedule = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset")
rsSchedule.open strQuery, cn,1,1
if rsSchedule.RecordCount > 0 then
UserScheduleId=rsSchedule.Fields.Item("UserScheduleId").value
Response.Redirect("UserSchedule.asp?User_Id=" & UserId &
"&UserScheduleId=" & UserScheduleId )
end if
rsSchedule.close
set rsSchedule = nothing
End If
End Sub
'execute the function
createNewUserschedule
--------------------------------------------------------
We are getting the userId and the UserSchedule NAme from a previous form.
But the problem is that in some cases when a new name is provided it inserts the
values in the database but is not able to redirect it to the new page ...
that is although it sends the 302 request but then instead of moving to the new
page it calls the same page and then founds the record and displays the text in
the if condition

Hi,
I am giving one report page, which will be used to print on special type of Label printer.
So I need to print the text as laid down on HTML page.
But printer takes by default header and footer of IE, this makes print disturbing.
Any how, I want to ignore this text [ header and footer] at the time of printing.
I had considered Webbroser control, but I could not get the way to hide header and printer.
I had used WebBrowser1.ExecWB 7,-1
but I don't know next argument to send from VbScript/Javascript
Some suggested to change registry value, but I don't think it's feasible, Since user will not accept any registry from Internet.
If any one has idea in above regards or new way to handle from vbscript like Wscript etc....
your suggestion invited.
Thanks.

Hi dear,
I want to retrieve some periodical messages from a web service when
I call a main web method of that.
In fact I want to create an event generator by a web service.
For this reason I've created a timer in my web service to send periodical messages ( for example
a counter value that is increasing by timer) to
a client that already has triggered the web service.
But my sample doesn't work properly.
Do you have a good solution.

|
|
|
|
I remember we had something like this in ASP.NET forum before and the answer was no timer work there. Cause ASP.NET or WS get one request from client and send one respond to it. Another respond need one request, so in ASP.NET that timer should be placed in javascript, but here I think client should request periodical to get periodical messages.

so if i include an external javascript file (so i dont have to have all the same rubbish on every page header) it seems the variables declared within it (ie, preloaded images) arent visible to the page itself ... is that true?
ie, in the external file:
image1 = new image(100,20);
image1.src = "whatever.jpg';
then in the page itself:
onmouseover="pageimage.src=image1.src"
gives me an "object required" error
is it me being an idiot or what?

I use this technique all the time
yer probably getting the error with pageimage.src=image1.src
If your doing a image rollover, try:
this.src=Image1.src

Assuming I knew exactly what files I wanted to upload (location and all) would it be possible to construct and FORM with hidden elements and upload those files, instead of requiring a user click on browse and add a file that way?
I guess not, then it would be possible for web sites to read 'known' files off your computer each form you submitted...shoot...there goes my idea
Unless you know of an way of accomplishing this?
Cheers

You don't, you use javascript. C# in an ASP.NET context is server-side only.
And for what you want, you really should use the relevant validator controls instead. Try the RequiredFieldValidator control for starters.

I don't remember any member MM_sr into the Document object, but I remember this into one Macromedia script, if your page was made in Dreamweaver.

If you hear the audio track, and don't see nothing in the play screen, maybe your video is damage. Cuz if you get sound the mediaplayer works fine.

How do you force a refresh of IIS cache using ADSI? I have a web service which calls a VB.NET dll that uses ADSI to query the sites listed in the metabase. The problem is that it does not pick up sites which are added to the metabase unless I restart IIS but if I delete a site, it will be reflected in the ADSI query right away...?
Here is how I am querying:
<br />
Dim objW3Svc As Object = GetObject("IIS://" & m_sServerName & "/W3SVC")<br />
objW3Svc.GetInfo()<br />
Dim ar As New ArrayList<br />
<br />
' Find the sites listed in the MetaBase<br />
For Each objWebSite As Object In objW3Svc<br />
<br />
If (objWebSite.Class = "IIsWebServer") Then<br />
ar.Add(objWebSite.ServerComment)<br />
End If<br />
Next<br />
If it were a permission issue due to the web service calling the VB.NET dll I would not expect the sites to magically show up after an IIS restart. Also the fact that deleted sites do not show up in subsequent queries shows me that ADSI seems to be looking at current data...
Any clues here?
