Help: F5 doesn't compile anymore, even if I changed the sourcecode!
The changes are saved, but Visual Studio .NET 2003 simply starts debugging the unchanged version of my code!
Everytime I have to press F7 (to build the new version) prior to F5 (to debug the new version)!
I am totally unsure if I changed anything (I really cannot think of it), so if there is an option to get back the "standard" behaviour (rebuild if changes in code), then please, anyone help me and direct me towards it...
It DID rebuild on F5 after changing code for a while, it just stopped doing so recently...
Help!

I don't know if there are other things that may cause this,
but try to see if this setting is ok:
From the build menu select Configuration manager.
When you select debug (and release) in the drop down box,
make sure the box "build" is checked.

Yup, every "build" checkbox is checked!
Thanks for trying to help....

Are you sure that you are chaingin the correct source code?
Are your dates/times correct on your pc and did you change it recently?
Did you try to delete the release and debug folders and do a clean build?

Yeah, there is only one source-file in the project/solution.
Date/Time is correct (just checked it).
I'll try to delete the Debug/Release-folders and try to "build from scratch".
I'lll let you know if it helped...
/EDIT:
No, doesn't help.
Funny thing is: After deleting Debug/Release Folders and pressing F5, I get an ERROR-MESSAGE tellig me it cannot find the desired EXE to debug!!!
Screenshot (German Version):
See Screenshot of Error here...[^]
Damn, there MUST be an option to control this behaviour... it worked for months before...

I got it!
I was playing around with the Demo of the Intel CPP Compiler, and somehow I must have managed to set it's options to "ignore code changes" or whatever...
I uninstalled it and it works again like before!
Thanks for all who tried to help me!

Your welcome... I have sort of the opposite problem... When I do remote debugging and press the F5 key (on the remote system while remotely debugging the systems that compiles the application) a lot of the time it wants to recompile but I know everything is up to date... I think this is caused by the clocks of the computers not being synchronized...

I can add buttons and checkboxes to my form using the BS_xxxx Command, but how do I add a scroll box or drop box?

Hello,
windows style WS_VSCROLL Creates a window that has a vertical scroll bar.
windows style WS_HSCROLL Creates a window that has a horizontal scroll bar.

Greetings,
I was wondering how do I programmatically create a virtual folder under Inetpub?
I am trying to create a folder through code with various security methods, and
I am not sure how to do this outside of the IIS manager. I need to do this through
code.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Help... yes I have scanned the different forums for help on the subject have not found a complete answer, hopefully i'll get some here..
Anyways, I am writing a MFC application VC6 and my problem is that I want to be able to download files from an internet location, preferably using http protocol so that ftp server is not needed.
I have seen solutions where you can download a file with a given name, my problem is that i dont know the name of the files to be downloaded, consequently i need to make "dir" search or similar and the download each of them. If possible I would like to chect last update date for each file before downloading (checking if they have changed, so download is only performed if change has been made).
I also want to be able to upload files to the same directory (of course permissions have to be set on the server side to be able to do this. Is it possible to do this with http.
the files are xml coded files.
So do anyone know about an article in this subject, or could point me in some direction i would be most grateful.

I'm pretty sure an HTTP download will require you to access some sort of "index" file that contains references to the actual files available for downloading. Otherwise, you'll need to use FTP.

I think ftp would be the easiest way.
If you must have an http, then you'll need to get a directory listing from the server somehow (for instance allow directory listing, or write your own asp, jsp or cgi to make it in the format that you want, that's probably better, you could filter files out based on the modification date ) and then parse it manually.
Upload via http can be done using "PUT" method (if server supports it) or using "POST", again server should be able to handle it, but there must be plenty plugin (IIS has one for sure) that can handle "multipart/form-data" posts.

This is sort of related to a question I had before. I'm writing a program that needs to have an edit control with a very specific format. It needs to have a format of L#LLLL#########LLLL### (where L is any letter A-Z and # is any number 0-9). I'd like to write this control from scratch since this is a type of learing lesson for me. I'm wondering if the best way to go about this is subclassing the CEdit control. If not some ideas on the best way to go about this would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Take a look at these[^] before you write code...

I've got an app that has several static libraries. In the main App I've defined several dialog resources that I want to implement classes for in my static libraries. When I create the classes and put them in my static library I can no longer associate members or message habdlers with the class and the Dialog Resources using the wizards and such in VS. Is there something that I can do to get this working?
I'm using VS.NET 2003, coding in C++.

Hi everyone!
I have a CString variable and it must be passed in a function as TCHAR. I don't know how could I convert it. Does anybody knows?
Thank you in advance!
|
|
|
|
|
SomeFunction( TCHAR ch )
{
...
}
CString str;
SomeFunction(str[0]);
will work.
A rich person is not the one who has the most, but the one that needs the least.

TCHAR is simple "char" type. If you want to pass CString data into a function, you should use "TCHAR*" instead of "TCHAR". Example as below.
void f(TCHAR* prm)<br />
{<br />
do something<br />
}<br />
<br />
void main(void)<br />
{<br />
CString szPrm;<br />
f(szPrm.GetBuffer(szPrm.GetLength()));<br />
return(0);<br />
}
Otherwise, you can pass only one character into function.

Now it works perfectly, thank you

If you do this you should also call szPrm.ReleaseBuffer(). The MSDN doc says the following:
If you use the pointer returned by GetBuffer to change the string contents, you must call ReleaseBuffer before using any other CString member functions.
If you are not going to change the string the following should work (LPTSTR)(LPCTSTR)szPrm
