In the recent past, I used to be able to download files from a particular website, but for over a week now, that has not been the case. When I brought the situation to the attention of the webmaster, his reply was that the problem has been corrected, and that I should try doing a "cache refresh".
What is a "cache refresh" and how does one go about doing it? If by chance, doing a "cache refresh" means going to Internet Explorer and doing a Tools->Internet Options->General->Delete Files, I've already done that and the problem still exists.
If there's any significance to it, I am using IE 6.0 and Win2K.
Thanks for any insight.
William

AFAIK a cache refresh is when you hit Ctrl-F5 on a webpage... HTH

Thanks for replying.
Doing a "cache refresh" was not the reason for being unable to do downloads. It was the new web address the site was using, which I had to inform the firewall on my system to accept files from. As soon as that was done, I was once again able to do downloads.
Just goes to show, a simple thing as informing visitors to a website that certain parts of the name had been changed, could avoid problems from happening. (BTW, I'm NOT talking about CodeProject. AAMOF, I wish other websites would take notice of the way CP goes about caring and maintaining its site, showing how some problems could easily be avoided.)

i installed linux on my comp., i used a os manager that comes default with linux mandrake and i tried linux. some description to this is that linux is possibly the future of good ideas since, like any windows user knows, windows is hiding progs into the mem.. or spy programs or what ever other program loads itself into the memory, and windows doesnt tell you about it. though in linux it runs smoothly... it doesn't have any progs loaded into the mem. except the os and any progs that appear on the taskbar. I was suprised to see everything that linux offered was that one unknown word to windows users... 'free' though there aren't alot of programs i think linux (in my opinion will be like a secondary os to windows) although im not sure cause longhorn is supposed to make programming more 'funner' and i have seen some longhorn programs and am amazed at how quickly they can make a program that would be complex in todays windows... though the developement system for linux is free, it reminds me of good ol' c++ without those confusing memory managers (pointers). cya

Hi!
I have done a little mistake. I have deleted a folder as a root with
# rm -rf /folder
Is there a command to restore the folder? Or were can I find the deleted folder? It is not in the trash.
Help me, if it possible

The "rm" command actually deletes data in Unix/Linux, it doesn't move it to some "trashcan" directory. If you don't have a backup copy of your data, it's lost.

You can try having a look around in /dev/null ... If you can't find it there, you're screwed

I'm just installed XP on a clean machine. It has a broadband connection using ICS, and a LAN connection.
When the net is connected, some of the LAN resources ask for a user/pass to access them. Any of the users I give are rejected. The target machine is on a domain, the XP machine is a member of the domain but is logged in to the local machine. Normally I do not need to enter any passwords to connect.
As soon as I disconnect the Broadband, I can access the network no problems.
I can still access non-domain machines while connected.
Any ideas? It's really annoying as I can't actually download any emails as they are downloaded to the other machine using this connection.

My other post would have made u guess that this is for symbian
Anyways... will this work if I set the environment variable as ....
\Program files\...\bin
??
Have u worked on symbian?

i guesss you need to put this in the environment variable.
set EPCOROOT = \Symbian\OS7_00871\bin\TechView
this is an example, yours may be different.
Any ways, i havent worked on symbian anytime, but have some personal knowledge on it.
I knew that you are working on symbian by the kind of questions you were posting.

Hi all,
someone has an idea on how to manage network connection by script or command line?
I need to connect to/disconnect from different network segments, but I could not.
I found a script on msdn that enumerates my network connections and return their status, I need some help on how to change it...
Here is it:
Main( )
function Main()
DIM objShare
DIM objEveryColl
set objShare = Wscript.CreateObject("HNetCfg.HNetShare.1")
if(IsObject(objShare) = FALSE ) then
exit function
end if
set objEveryColl = objShare.EnumEveryConnection
if (IsObject(objEveryColl) = TRUE) then
DIM objNetConn
for each objNetConn in objEveryColl
DIM objShareCfg
set objShareCfg = objShare.INetSharingConfigurationForINetConnection(objNetConn)
if (IsObject(objShareCfg) = TRUE) then
DIM objNCProps
set objNCProps = objShare.NetConnectionProps(objNetConn)
if (IsObject(objNCProps) = TRUE) then
DIM str
str = "Name: " & objNCProps.Name & chr(13) & _
"Guid: " & objNCProps.Guid & chr(13) & _
"DeviceName: " & objNCProps.DeviceName & chr(13) & _
"Status: " & objNCProps.Status & chr(13) & _
"MediaType: " & objNCProps.MediaType
WScript.Echo( str )
end if
end if
next
end if
end function
Thanks in advance!

Take a look at the next post/question... one of them is a sample of a bat file that maps network drives...
|
|
|
|
|
Thank you, but I am talking about network CONNECTION and not network drives. I am looking for some code or some command that can connect/disconnect my network.
Have you any idea?

Hello,
INTRODUCTION:
I've posted this same question in the visual c++ forum, but after following all the steps carefully and after having seen my program working once the user has logged in... it doesn't work when it's called from XYNTService (an application that is installed as a service and that runs applications that you can add inside an ini file (you can see it here in cp...)).
QUESTION:
I think that I'm missing an important thing because it seems that I cannot do it before logging noway... I've tried to do it via a script (a bat file) and also with a visual C++ program using the WNetAddConnection2() function.
well... what do I need to know in order to do that?
I have no clue why it works once the user has logged in and not before... (I'm passing the user name and the password into the call to "net use" (in the bat file) and into the visual C++ function...)
Thank you in advance...
