I have the windows CE application programming book and it covers things in EVC++ 3.0. I am useing code that he gives in his examples and he uses "cout<<_T" . Whenever I try to compile it doesn't like the cout command. Is there something that I need to import or include to use the cout command? Here is what I have for an example.
void Listing4_1()<br />
{<br />
CEGUID pceguid;<br />
<br />
if(!CeMountDBVol(&pceguid, _T("\\MyVolume.CDB"), CREATE_NEW))<br />
cout << _T("Could not create database volume") << endl;<br />
else<br />
cout << _T("Database volume created") << endl;<br />
if(CeUnmountDBVol(&pceguid))<br />
cout << endl << _T("Database volume unmounted") << endl;<br />
else<br />
cout << endl << _T("Database volume could not be unmounted") << endl;<br />
}
why doesn't it like it?Any Ideas?
Thanks guys,
Rod

Whell i think that case is: macros "_T" is defined for unicode usage and as i understand u use just ASCII version for this situation there is "L" - macros. In ms vc existed some macroces with u can define and all will do automaticly but i do not remember them. So i think that solution is include tchar.h file. Try can will work.

Has anyone attempted to write applications for the casio ce devices? I was able to get ahold of the sdk, but its about the worse one I have ever seen. It has horrible documentation and all I want to do is receive a decoded string from the 2d scanner, lol. I was just wondering if anyone knew of some sites that may be of help.
Thanks

Hi All,
I have a problem in my embedded VC++ which is as follows:
There is a Read Thread created during WM_CREATE event, which is supposed to read data from the COM1 port as and when it receives data.I have created the thread in such a way that it is active right from the point of creation - hReadThread = CreateThread (NULL, 0, PortRead, 0, 0, &dwThreadId);
The problem is I dont know why the data is not read from COM1 though the read thread is active right from start.
It would be very helpful if you could kindly help em out.
Thanx
Deepa.

Show us how do you read the data from the COM1 port in your thread!

Hi,
This i how I read the data:
SetCommMask (hSerial1, EV_RXCHAR | EV_TXEMPTY |EV_CTS | EV_DSR | EV_RLSD | EV_RING);
WaitCommEvent (hSerial1, &dwCommModemStatus, 0);
SetCommMask (hSerial1, EV_RXCHAR | EV_TXEMPTY |EV_CTS | EV_DSR | EV_RLSD | EV_RING);
if (dwCommModemStatus & (EV_RXCHAR | EV_RLSD | EV_TXEMPTY |EV_CTS | EV_DSR | EV_RING) )
{
do
{
flag = ReadFile(hSerial1,&response, 1, &dwBytesTransferred, NULL);
if (flag)
{
//Process Data
}
} while(dwBytesTransferred == 1);
}
Thanx
Deepa

Are you shure that the thread started correctly? Just show a message box when the thread is started.
Just try to read some data from the COM outside of the thread, to see if the serial communication work!
PS: I use the Serial library for C++ library (with some little changes that it will compile under eVC++) for my serial communication!

Daniel.

Hi All,
I am new to the EVC world and have writen som e simple projects that work fine, but now I would like to get them to manipulate databases and have searched through the past listings and can't find what I need.
First how do I get a program to OPEN and access the data base, what do I need to #include for the operations.
I would love a simple sample of code that uses a datadase to get started.
Second once I access the file how do I change things inside it. How do I save things to the file? Can I use the Database functions for CE, Like "CECreateDatabaseEX" or is this not going to be recognized by EVC++ 3.0.
Thanks for all the help

I assume you want to use the CE DB provider, is this correct?

I was thinking of using an access database. But as I said, I am new to this and am open to suggestions. I just want something that is easy to manipulate with the EVC 3.0

Does anyone know how to add an image to the ColumnHeader control in the .Net Compact Framework?
The Microsoft Windows CE .NET 4.2 documentation has an article "Working with Advanced Header Control Features" which describes how you can do this non .Net code, so it should be possible in .Net too; has any one got this working, or do I need to write my own code?
Thanks.

I'd like to have Russian labels and strings in menu ( in other word - full russian version in my programm, but in pocket it looks bad. Looks like it can't find properly the charset.

Try downloading a font with Russian characters to the \Windows\Fonts folder and use it. It can be one that you have on your desktop.

Sorry, I'm newbie )
I have to use ISA bus under my own Windows CE OS.
I found lots of information about CEDDK on the MSDN site.
I also found this code which can help me, I hope: http://www.odints.com/pages/support/drivers/thor/thormain.htm
Does someone have already had to use ISA bus under a eVC program?
Can you give me informations or codes? ;o)
Do you think, the code I had found could help me?
Is it better to develop dll or driver in this case?
Thank you for your help!
Sorry for my poor English.

Hi,
I am trying to write a code in an application that would invoke functions within a script from the application in WinCE. I tried searching for examples using COM objects, but there seems to be no such object for WinCE by Microsoft. Could anybody throw some light on this please?
Thanks and Regards
Jan
