I'm working on developing an application for the tablet PC. Read MS website and following what they recommended, I downloaded and installed the Tablet PC SDK. They say you can develop tablet pc applications on a regular pc, it just recommended to have a pen digitizer to simulate the tablet pc screen. The sdk also comes with some samples. I ran one of the samples but it would not work correctly because I didn't have any 'handwriting recognizers' installed. I found a table PC 'handwriting recognizer' pack on MS's website and downloaded it. This recognizer will not install because it's not being installed on a tablet pc.
Is there a way to get handwriting recognizers to install on my pc so that I can test my app?
Thanks,
Omar

Hi All,
The example code from this website has the path as , but I found a problem if you have a path like . The first image display very fast, but it is very slow when I try to display the second image. You guys have any ideas why this is so. I didn't change the code from this download site http://www.codeproject.com/ce/sthtmldialog/STHtmlDialog.zip.
Example code:
strHtml = "";
strHtml = strHtml + "";
strHtml = strHtml + "";
SetHtml(strHtml);
Thanks a lot,

How come the ini file functions are not working for me?
I have set the path and name of the ini file in the construction
CMyApp::CMyApp()
: CWinApp()
{
free((void*)m_pszProfileName);
m_pszProfileName=_tcsdup(_T("\\Program Files\\program\\SP.ini"));
}
Then in the main dialog I call the sample as is in the samples
BOOL CMyProgDlg::OnInitDialog()
{
CDialog::OnInitDialog();
CString strSection = "My Section\0";
CString strStringItem = "My String Item\0";
CString strIntItem = "My Int Item\0";
CWinApp* pApp = AfxGetApp();
pApp->InitApplication();
AfxMessageBox(pApp->m_pszProfileName);
// This displays the path just fine.
pApp->WriteProfileString(strSection, strStringItem, _T("test"));
CString strValue;
strValue = pApp->GetProfileString(strSection, strStringItem,_T("Not Found"));
ASSERT(strValue == "test");
AfxMessageBox(strValue);
// I get Not Found???
Any help would be appreciated.

If you are targeting a Pocket PC with this code, remember that it does not natively support ini files. The WriteProfileString and GetProfileString methods will only work on the registry. If you want to use real ini files, read this:

Hi all,
I built a web service client for PDA. My problem is How can my webservice client reference to the ws at runtime. Because the url of webservice can be changed in the future. There isn't UrlBehavior property of web reference in compact framework.
I have tried to modify the Reference.vb file but it doesn't work.
I did this
This is the Sub New procedure generated by .net when I added a web reference using Add Web reference dialog box.
Public Sub New()
MyBase.New
Me.Url = "http://localhost/myTestWebService/service1.asmx"
End Sub
Then i modified it like this
public Sub New(ByVal strWsUrl as String)
MyBase.New
Me.Url = strWsUrl
End Sub
This solution doesn't work 'cause there are still a lot of web methods are called through SoapDocumentMethodAttribute(..) and they are passed static url... I do not want to changed all of these static url.
Here is the code generated automatically for each web method when I used static url-->
'<remarks> <system.web.services.protocols.soapdocumentmethodattribute("http: thoantm="" mytestwebservice="" service1="" getbu0m02",="" requestnamespace:="http://thoantm/myTestWebService/Service1" ,="" responsenamespace:="http://thoantm/myTestWebService/Service1" use:="System.Web.Services.Description.SoapBindingUse.Literal," parameterstyle:="System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapParameterStyle.Wrapped)"> _
Public Function GetBU0M02(ByVal intDownType As Integer, ByVal strLastDate As String) As System.Data.DataSet
Dim results() As Object = Me.Invoke("GetBU0M02", New Object() {intDownType, strLastDate})
Return CType(results(0),System.Data.DataSet)
End Function
...and more
Can anyone help me. Thanks a lot.......

Do you need VS. NET to run the Pocket PC 2003 emulator, I have Borland's C# Builder (free) and wanted to try some some programing for it since i dont have a Pocket PC yet.

You need the Pocket PC 2003 SDK to get the emulator. I'm not sure that you will be able to connect to it through Borland's product.

can anyone tell me how to convert or mask a CString to a char []
i.e. (char new[]). In need to do this for my combo box.
Thanks guys,
Rod

Take a look at Strings on Pocket PC, Unicode and ANSI.
char* GetAnsiString(const CString &s, UINT nCodePage)
{
int nSize = s.GetLength();
char *pAnsiString = new char[nSize+1];
WideCharToMultiByte(nCodePage, 0, s, nSize+1, pAnsiString, nSize+1, NULL, NULL);
return pAnsiString;
}
CString strUnicode = _T("Some test string");
char *pAnsiString = GetAnsiString(strUnicode, CP_ACP);

Daniel.
